Title: card games
Post by: Lonny Quante on February 28, 2011, 04:47:53 AM
Does anyone seem to care about this feature? Frankly, I'm surprised that there aren't any threads about this already.
OK, clarification time: I forget what this feature is called exactly, hence the title of the thread, but basically, you take one of these card things that come with the console/game/whatever and, using the card as a reference point for the cameras, scenery is overlaid onto the image from the camera in real time. From this you can play games from a unique new perspective. Honestly, I think this is the coolest thing ever, especially since, according to some sources, it can do this with multiple cards at once and the virtual things can interact (not physically, of course) with actual objects in the cameras' field of view.
I can think of several ways that this system could be used, like a level from Mario that takes place in your living-room. Or a game of Missile Command, where you can put the cities and the military installations all over your desk. Think of the infinite possibilities!

Yeah, the AR stuff seems really cool and possibly the under the radar, WiiSports-esque monster for the 3DS. Imagine a pokemon stadium type game based around this concept?
