Title: Australian 3DS Launch Date Revealed
Post by: NWR_Neal on February 08, 2011, 10:22:04 AM

Fans Down Under will get the new system a little less than a week after Europe and North America.

The 3DS is coming out to Australia on March 31 for a price of AUD $349, according to a Nintendo event today. The system, launching a few days after North American (March 27) and Europe (March 25), will come in Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black, just like the other regions.

The price is roughly the equivalent of $350. For comparison, the DSi is approximately AUD $250 and the DSi XL is approximately AUD $300.

An experience tour will start on February 10 in New South Wales.

uh.... wait. I thought the price of the Nintendo 3DS was going to be $250. Is that only in the US? Is Australia having to pay more than the US, or is it really $350 everywhere? Or am I missing something? i dunno

Nintendo announced the US price is $250, they still haven't announced the Canadian price either. The price is really varied, it's about $300 in Japan, about $280-360 in Europe (depending on the country and store), etc.

The answer to your question is that we will be paying more.  The reason: because it is Australia.  And we get shafted by all companies.

Honestly, there wasn't much of one. I just noticed it getting priced in Canadian outlets.

Look at Nintendo of Canada's site: http://nintendo.ca/cgi-bin/usersite/display_info.cgi 3DS isn't even on it!

Nintendo of Canada is slower than molasses going uphill in January while on crutches. I'm not surprised.

I say something and they FINALLY add a reference to the 3DS today.

It isn't a dedicated section, it's just something on an ad rotator.

When I was a kid I desperately wanted to live in Australia...but then I learned about their terrible Internet, outrageously overpriced games, and grotesque baby-eating spiders.
