Title: Nintendo 3DS Launching in Europe on March 25th
Post by: Jonnyboy117 on January 19, 2011, 10:14:55 AM

European pricing is left up to retailers; no specific price info has been announced.

Nintendo of Europe's President, Shibata-san, announced during the Amsterdam live press conference that the system will launch across Europe on March 25th, two full days earlier than in North America. Price information was left up in the air, as Shibata noted that the system price will be left up to retailers (and presumably may vary by country).

Now I'm pissed. Two whole days before the U.S? Lucky bastards, or should I say lucky little gits.

Although no price was announced, I think that Europe will get it at 250 Euros.

This is BS. North America is the most important market in video games, ESPECIALLY for Nintendo (which gets most of their sales here).

Europe is a massive market in its own right.

It's only 50 hours. You'll survive.

I know it won't be much time difference, but I don't get why they are doing it. Yes Europe is big, bit it's still a smaller market. This will also, I think, be the first system to launch in Europe before North America (not counting re-visions of existing systems).

Not to mention that Nintendo always launches on Sundays in the US, so between that and the vastly lower price I think I can live three days.  Besides, I can't pick up a preorder before work on Fridays, so at least Sunday I'll have the entire day to play with my new toy!  :)

Europe get the bonus of getting it before us because they are paying extra for the system. At the price they are paying $317 -$396 USD, I wouldn't be mad if they got it a whole month before us.

You know, after all the release date lag that us Europeans have had to put up with for the past two and a half decades, all I can say to you lot is...
Muahaha! Deal with it! And honestly, lads and ladies, compared to most delays, 2 days is nothing to complain about.
