The first Naruto game for the 3DS was revealed via the latest issue of Shonen Jump, a weekly manga magazine that features the series and others such as One Piece and Bleach.

Titled "Naruto Shippuden: Nin-rittai Emake! Saikyou Ninkai Kessen", it has been revealed to be a side-scrolling action game with some 3D segments like Naruto jumping out of the screen. It will be developed by Tomy. The 3DS's touch screen will be used to select attacks as well as tag with other characters, such as Sakura. The visuals sport a cel-shaded look that mimics the style of the anime, much like previous games in the series.

The title is set for a spring release in Japan.

If anything it will be like the prior DS games. I would love to see a Naruto game on the 3DS to be more akin with the xbox 360/ps3 games.

The DS could do cel-shading in hardware, it's not really a surprise.

Yeah, but it looked low res. If they can do it for the 3DS on par with what the Gamecube could do, I would be content.

Naruto has had more then enough Fighting games, so an Action game is a welcome surprise.
