Title: metroid Prime rocks!!!
Post by: corwin on May 02, 2003, 05:02:32 AM
I just have to say it.
For a long time I haven't played any console game (last one was zelda on N64) and only played games
on my PC. Now I have metroid for 2 weeks, and I haven't touched my PC for any game in these two weeks.

At last, a game that sucks me in.
I love it!

I found Zelda sucked me in more...I guess I just prefer it's gameplay style. But they are both awesome..and Metroid Prime actually offered somewhat of a challenge, unlike Wind Waker

Great Game, it never gave me any problems either, no freezing or horrible system crash.  I was sad when it was all over.

Been playing both Metroid and Legend of Zelda:Wind Waker for the past few weeks and I must say they are both excellent games.

Never played any first-person type games but Metroid never gave me any problems at all. LOVE IT.

Needs to be 64x64.. Oh, and you can't steal images from other sites..

As for Metroid Prime.....I can't think of anything to say that pertains to the "subject"...

In me is the magical power contained, to be able to play multiple games at once. In fact, one time I tested the range of my skill and came up to 7 games before I fell into a severe coma. After that I've been smarter in my ways and only done about 3-4 games at most simultaneously.

Weird, PIAC.  I was also about to say Yes, yes it does.  Perhaps it's because we both watch Zim. . .

Yesterday I just put it back in and just went around sight seeing again.  Did it some more today.  That game has awesome music, too.

metroid is great, especially since there has never been a game anything like it before!

so from these posts (the ones that i read as i skimmed over)

i take it nobody shares my opinion of how similar it is to zelda? (ocarina of time)

the music is similar, the graphics are often very similar and the general atmosphere altogether reminds me of zelda. ignoring the obvious difference that it's in first person...

instead of heart pieces you get energy capsules
and the whole finding missile expansions, as opposed to extra bomb bags and such

instead of navi, you have the scanner...

and the way you fight bosses, once again similar (finding a SPECIFIC weakness and using a defined method to kill it)

i dunno, the only major difference between the two seems to be the perspective at which you play them.

it just feels the same to me

and yeah, they're two of my favourite games ever.

ehm, if anything Ocarina of Time would be like any of the previous metroids, as they all had such things as health/missile upgrades

metroid prime =  super metroid in 3d, atleast this is how i feel, they couldn't have captured the atmosphere and style of super metroid any better

gg retro!

metroid prime is my favorite game of all time.  And it will take ALOT for it to be topped.

Theres just so many things about the game that were done so amazingly well, when i first got it, it sucked me in so much that I actually beat the entire game in 2 sittings.

I've gone though it 3 times since then, and I'm planning on beating it again sometime next week.

Metroid and Zelda games have ALOT in common, its mainly just a "universe switch" and the previous metroid games were sideview.

I don't think it had *that much* in common with OOT, but there are similarities, but that can be said about just any zelda/metroid comparison.

mm... metroid prime 2... *drools*

acually I didnt really like the game all that much. I liked it up to a point. After I got the gravity suit I havent really played it much. It is pretty boring. You go throught the game just trying to get one item after the next its kinda old. I also dont like it when U get pretty far and you have to find a save station and u fail and u gotta start ALL over again.

i agree, ruhatingagain.  i know, most people like that beacuase it's true to the metroid roots.  let me tell you, the only other metroid i've played was fusion, and although i loved it, people said it was the farthest away from the metroid series yet.  it was great, not great, awsome, spectacular, amazing, best game ever....untill a certain point where i got bored.  i only made it up to beating the snow-rock boss dude.  i know the spiderball (what one earns for beating uh... Thardus that's his name) can get me alot of different things, but it's just not as exiting.  oddly enough, the same thing hapened with wind waker.  it was great, not great, awsome, spectacular, amazing, best game ever....untill a certain point where i got bored.  that point happened to be in the middle of the wind temple.of course, the same thing happened with majoras mask and ocarina of time.  both in the water temples.  luckily enough, i started OoT again and beat it, so glad that i had started it up again and not missed the rest of the awsome game.  the same will someday happen with, like, every other game i own, just not now.

Metroid Prime was a great game, possibly the best on the Gamecube. However, it is inferior to Super Metroid, possibly the greatest game ever. Prime has everything, but just falls short of the brilliance of Super Metroid. But that's a great feat, which is almost impossible to overcome.
