T.I.'S T.M.I. Earns T.O. By: John Nash
Actor/Rapper/Producer/Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none T.I. was booted from Hollywood today. The mogul was caught in a sting operation selling drugs to big name celebrities. This resulted in the vast majority of Hollywood stepping away from Mr. T.I. and leaving him alone to face the wrath of the Motion Picture Production Code. The Code offices issued a life-time ban to T.I. from all major movie studios. When asked why he did it, T.I. simply shrugged and said it was just practice to keep his skills sharp. In addition to the ban, T.I. has also been given a year of community service. When asked about the sentence, T.I. stated, "I eat community service for breakfast!". (story continued on A4)
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Movie Cast Announced! By: Antonio Salieri
Khushrenada Studios today announced the cast they have selected for their much anticipated epic project. The cast consists of: Apdude, Insanolord, Jrlibrarian, Mop it up, Noname2200, Shaymin, Stratos, Stevey and Toruresu. When asked what being cast for this movie meant for them, The Fan Favorite Stratos said this, "Honestly, this feeling is fantastic. We've all gotten to know each other well over these casting sessions and I think we've all really bonded well. We're looking forward to the fun we're going to have making this." Other cast members were just as thrilled. (story continued on A2)

Quick thoughts.
Huge Townie Win.
Congrats. The successful vote-out of Vudu seemed to hasten things greatly and put everyone on a roll. I think this is the fastest Townie Victory ever recorded so congrats again to all involved.
Some good things obviously worked in their favor. Because Vudu was the vote changer, it helped on day 2 when there was a tie. If Nickmitch was the vote changer, the mafia probably would have taken the chance to change a vote and win the tie but they didn't have that ability.
Plus, by keeping the vote small, a few townie were able to cash in big on points. With the hidden-role mafia member gone, the townies could easily narrow down the choice of who to investigate with their points.
It's a shame the mafia didn't try to recruit someone earlier. Obviously, there was the fear of choosing the wrong player but I'm not sure what the mafia hoped to do otherwise.
Townies also came close to the first ever perfect win. With the Acadamy option, 3 players got have used their points, bought in and brought back Thatguy making the game perfect of all townies left and all mafia gone. However, when the players with the most points accumulated started doing investigations, I didn't bother to mention the possibility for this evening. Sorry Thatguy.
It's a shame that we didn't get to dig deeper into the points system. That said, I welcome your thoughts on the idea and for those that were around when I called them Warbucks, how did you think this compared? Likes, dislikes, etc.
Finally, I must admit a broke a long standing rule of mine and selected one player for a certain role. That was Vudu for the Pony Killer. Looking back now, I wonder if that didn't decide the whole game right there. But I did it for a couple reasons. Vudu's joke about wanting a Pony. I didn't think anyone would guess that I gave him the role since making up the title would seem to be enough. But also because it was Vudu who suggested the idea of a mafia having no godfather. So, I wanted him to at least be mafia to see what he thought of his idea. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if this was much of a test. Vudu also had a couple other idea's I'll post in a moment.
Finally, I just want to remind and invite everybody back for the next mafia game. It's going to have some big prizes and Thatguy and myself really want to try and put on the ultimate AAA mafia game. We'd really like to make it a big party and hope it will be a blast. With this game going so quickly, I don't think we are going to wait long before launching it, so get ready.

I'd like to thank Mop it up first and foremost. She was the one that empowered me to use my power as a shield to stand up against the mafia. I was suspicious of the Toru bandwagon but would not have fought nearly as hard if she hadn't encouraged me to take point like I did.
Vote Mop it up for VIP or Leading Lady or whatever you are calling it.

For me, it's either Stratos or Mop for MVP this game; they pushed me over the edge on voting for Sundulos instead of toruresu, with Mop apparently adding some pre-game insight to it, and of course Stratos investigated nickmitch to end it. I'm just amused that the mafia failed to recruit anyone... who'd they push their product on?

I like the concept a lot. The execution also seemed sound, but as you said this game ended too quickly to test it thoroughly. The only change I can think of off the top of my head is to only allow a player to cash in their points once per day (thus preventing The Scum Scouring we did).

It was totally vudu's fault for revealing himself to me. C'mon. I've picked up on this now, vudu. Try better next time.
Also, since I was pretty sure vudu was mafia, I was also pretty sure I was the first target, only because this is a points-based game and I cleaned up in that last one.
Hence a lack of fear of death. I would have to say that I think points would have been better if they were easier to obtain, but perhaps were more temporary, for example. The panel never got to bring me back to life, as noticed, because in the game, there weren't enough people with enough money to make it worth their while.
Of course, had the mafia not been so obstinate in voting out Mop it up, someone I was convinced was a townie, they'd have had an easier time, but Sundoulos made himself a heavy suspect right there. Nickmitch's weird participation (And vudu's, really -- he sent that message to me early in the day, but it took hours for a post) pretty much set him off.
Oh well. Could've been a tough game, but with 1/3 of the mafia dead in the first day, and another 3rd not doing his part to fulfill his role, it was open-and-shut.

It was fun playing the townie side this time. You get to be loud and obnoxious, and screw subtlety. I also like the point system since it makes it possible for anyone to play a role even if they are just a townie.
I still don't know why the mafia didn't make a hit day 2? How come I never said "The Dude Abides"(unforgiveable).
Thatguy for Actor of the year (MVP) he only had one day but he made the most of it and was hilarious in doing so. Maverick was defiantly dangerous an the Mafia knew it.
A couple ideas -Perhaps make a few more powers and powers to block those. For instance, everyone was investigating but Sundolous was the only one who couldn't be investigated. Perhaps there could have been a PR agent they could buy to block investigations for a day.
-make it so the mafia, and a few select townies gets double points since they are fewer in number but they don't have any special powers just easier to buy them.
-make townies be able to buy certain powers (block hits, investigate, etc) and mafia others (make extra hit, block investigations, etc) and then maybe one or two "super" powers that are hard to get but either side can get (similar to the academy and the contract)
-I like the idea of recruiting mafia members but maybe setting a max limit to how big it can get because it could easily sway the game if the mafia can make it through a couple days unscathed lots of people will jump ship.

There was a limit the mafia could recruit. Maybe I didn't state it clear enough in the rules. The mafia could only add 1 other person. However, if that recruit was killed, they could try again for another recruit. But the most they could add at a time was 1.
Awesome game townies.I don't think any townie team voted out all mafia members in a row. That is quite impressive. Khushrenada when is the next game going to happen?

I can answer that. Nickmitch had some stuff going on in RL, and I never heard from him until sometime in the at the end of day 2. (This also explains why the mafia never attempted to recruit anyone, as he was the drug dealer. I'm not casting blame, by the way; real life is real life.)
Also, as I mentioned in the death thread, my area was experiencing some really bad weather on Tuesday, which also compromised my ability to check on the thread and my messages. (Otherwise I probably would have been back on the thread to defend myself...though I doubt it would have been that successful at that point. I knew that I had messed up when the vote started to go against vudu. I had contacted Mop it up earlier in the day, and there was no logical reason for me to have voted for her, but I rolled with it anyway and payed the consequences.)
Who did I put a hit out on on day 2? I'll never tell. :)
I was forced to put in the hit myself earlier in the day because I hadn't heard back from Nickmitch; because I was the person who was voted out, my hit did not count (per the rules).
So, yeah, if I had it to do over again, I would have played this game very differently. Hindsight is 20/20.

Yeah, first it was homecoming, them it was my stupid freaking internet. I completely forgot to put out the hit because I went to bed right after my last post. I wanted to wake up to see a presentation by Michelle Rhee (former chancellor of DC public schools) in one of my professor's earlier classes. I might take a brief hiatus from mafia games for a while, since something always comes up to keep me from playing.

We are only a few more games to 50.I don't think anybody would be able to top that for a while.

I like the idea of everyone having a chance at an ability, but it still needs a bit more tweaking. This system is definitely better than how the Warbucks worked, mostly because it isn't nearly as much of a first-come, first-served basis, which puts people who can't visit early in the day at a disadvantage. It's just too bad the game didn't last longer to see how it worked out, but I second Noname2200's suggestion.

Is the idea of recruiting members to the Mafia really a good one? Especially when they can turn back into townies. What's stopping them from telling the townies who the Mafia are?
Also, Khushrenada was giving out 10 points for players voted out, but the rules state that players are worth 11 points. I'd have mentioned this sooner but I hadn't read the rules before now.

This is what we certainly would have done. But even then, it presents inherent risks towards the other mafia members. For example, what would Nickmitch have done if he recruited thatguy and then thatguy wanted to go after me? He can shrug it off and try to get thatguy interested in someone else, but thatguy will have a pretty good idea that I'm probably mafia.

I probably wouldn't go for a top tier player unless I felt sure they would want to finish on our side. Know your limits. Hooking and controlling an addict properly is no easy task.

Well, that was what rehab was about. It kept the player out for a day and if the mafia didn't trust him to stick with them, they could whack him that night before he re-enters the game. As well, like Vudu mentioned, he could be left in the dark. And since he's technically mafia, he should be listening to the orders given by the drug dealer of who to vote out and not making his own decisions.
Again, if he was refusing to cooperate, the mafia could whack him and try again. Maybe having the whammy choice was enough but I thought the mafia had enough protection for any recruitment problems.

Noname2200 asked me about that early on day 1. I told him it was always supposed to be 10 points. I forgot to change that error in the rule thread. No else brought it up though so I didn't think it was a big issue. In the end, it wouldn't have made a difference with any of the points handed out. So, no harm, no foul.
