Title: Cosmic Walker Developer Possibly Closed
Post by: NWR_Neal on October 06, 2010, 07:19:09 PM

Gaia, a studio formed by a former Atlus employee, might not be in existence anymore.

Cosmic Walker, a space-based game set to be published by Nintendo and developed by Gaia, could be close to being officially canceled. The developer's website is currently empty except for a sentence that translates to "Sorry, this website is now inactive."

Cosmic Walker originally appeared in a reel of Wii games in late 2008 at the same conference that Punch-Out!! and Sin & Punishment: Star Successor were revealed. It was listed as in-development title until late 2009.

Gaia, formed by Kouji Okada, who created a bulk of the early Shin Megami Tensei games at Atlus, was formed in 2003. Aside from the unreleased Cosmic Walker, the company also made Sword & Poker 2, released in May 2010 for iPhone, and Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner, which came out in 2007 for PSP and was published by Atlus.

Aww. Hopefully, Nintendo will decide to put it on the 3DS.

Very bad news. Maybe Nintendo owns the Cosmic Walker property and will transfer it to a studio that can finish it. (I'm not optimistic, though.)

I wish I could say it's a shame, but we knew nothing about it and the reel only showed about 5 seconds of a character moving down a corridor in zero gravity. If, theoretically, it was meant to be Endless Ocean in space, this would be a unfortunate loss, and I would hope it could be farmed off to someone not under the threat of being shut down.

Thats a great idea, with space things can float around and the 3D effect would be great

Project H.A.M.M.E.R, meet your new roommate Cosmic Walker.

Add this to the long list of Nintendo games that I won't get to play on the Wii. Thanks Nintendo!

Strange, I don't recall ever hearing about this game.

Yeah it was shown off back in October 2008 at Nintendo's Fall Conference. About 5 seconds were shown of footage.
