Title: Nintendo Reveals New Kirby and Pokémon for DS

Nintendo is not forgetting about the two-dimensional DS just yet.

Nintendo has announced new Pokémon and Kirby titles for the DS.

The Pokémon game is titled Battle & Get! Pokémon Typing DS!, and it appears it will feature gameplay reminiscent of SEGA's The Typing of The Dead. Interestingly, the game will actually ship with a peripheral: the Nintendo Wireless Keyboard. The lower DS screen will show a keyboard, and players will likely need to type a variety of phrases and Pokémon names to catch em’ all.  The game is being developed by Genius Sonority, the developers of Pokémon Battle Revolution and 100 Classic Book Collection.

HAL Laboratory’s new Kirby game will not have a yarn-filled world like the upcoming Wii game, but will instead feature a graphical style much closer to the classic Dream Land series.  It appears that Kirby may have been cloned as players will be in control of up to 10 copies of the marshmallow-like protagonist.  While it has not been confirmed, the screenshots make it looks like there will be touch-screen controls, possibly similar to those in Kirby Canvas Curse.

Pikachu Teaches Typing, anyone? That wireless keyboard does sound interesting, though.

Genius Sonority also brought us the two Pokemon RPGs for GameCube, which I enjoyed a fair bit, unlike a good number of critics.  ;)

The wireless peripheral does sound intriguing and the new Kirby game also looks appealing. Wonder how both will turn out.

Oh God it's the Colosseum guys.  Well that's an instant skip for me.

Having another Kirby this close to Epic Yarn might be nice for anyone who misses the classic Kirby gameplay.  Epic Yarn looks to be quite different so this will cover the bases for everyone.

Just what the world needs: more Pokemon spin-offs.  ::)

These are kind of weird. I hope the Kirby game isn't a Dream Land remake.
