Title: Samurai Warriors 3 DLC Included on Disc
Post by: NWR_Karlie on September 23, 2010, 09:49:52 PM

The content offered as DLC in Japan will be on-disc for the US release.

At a Samurai Warriors 3 game night today, NWR learned that the downloadable content for the Japanese release will be included on the disc for the North American version. The Nintendo game page also states the inclusion of the DLC content (Historical Mode).

Previously, the Samurai Warriors 3 box art for the North American release was noted to have no orange Wi-Fi Pay & Play logo as the Japanese box art does. The paid downloadable content gives you an additional "Historical Mode" where you can play with a custom character in three additional chapters, each with five scenarios, for 300 Points per chapter.

The European release from May this year also has the Historical Mode on disc instead of as DLC, as well as an online co-op mode, not present in the Japanese version, that is also included in the North American release on September 27.

Realistically, this content was probably on the Japanese disc too... Americans just won't have to pay to unlock it. ;-)

Either way, I'm glad it's free for us.

The online co-op mode excites me.

I think it's most likely included on the disc for North America and PAL regions because they didn't think we would be willing to pay for that content.

Any interest I had in the game evaporated when I decided to get Zangeki no Reginleiv (yes, been procrastinating on that for a long time due to the price...). Sandlot is orders of magnitude better at swarm combat than Koei.

It's really pathetic how long Koei has been making these games and how much content they stuff into each without ever managing to make a GOOD one.

Great news. With online co-op, I'll probably pick this up eventually.
