Title: Golden Classic Controller Pro Bundle for GoldenEye 007
Post by: NWR_Karlie on August 11, 2010, 12:12:12 PM

The Wii bundle includes an exclusive golden controller. UPDATE: US Pricing Announced

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/23857

Activision has annouced the GoldenEye 007 Classic Edition bundle for Wii, including an exclusive gold Classic Controller Pro packed with the game. Inspired by the 1974 Bond film "The Man with the Golden Gun", the bundle will be available at the game's launch this autumn for $69.99.

GoldenEye 007 for Wii will support the Classic Controller Pro, Wii Remote and Nunchuk, and also the Wii Zapper to give a variety of control schemes from the familiar to the uncommon. The game, developed by Eurocom, features a brand-new single-player mode in addition to splitscreen multiplayer, as well as online multiplayer.

I guess I was being unrealistic to hope that this wouldn't look gaudy. Then again, maybe it looks fine in when you hold it in your hands as opposed to looking at a picture. Also, I'm not one to complain about gaudiness since I jumped at getting the magenta wiimote for my second wiimote.

I wonder if this is a show of no-confidence in the motion controls of Goldeneye 007. Or maybe it shows how strongly Eurocom is building the game for fans of the previous game. Anyway, this is a far more useful limited edition pack-in than most of the other stuff they pack-in these days.

Damn it.  I want that controller but I do not at all want the game.  And they know it which is why the controller isn't sold seperately.  ARRGH!

Vega there wasn't a price listed in the press release. So I don't know where you are getting info.
Ian it doesn't say that the controller will not be sold seperately.

I want the controller to actually be made of solid gold with diamond encrusted buttons and d-pad. Sure gold is over a thousand dollars an ounce, but with the opprotunity to play a Golden Eye is just too appealing.  :cool;

My guess is that it's a Golden Classic Controller because Nintendo probably didn't want to give Activision permission to make a Golden Wii Remote.  And since the game is apparently compatible with the Classic Controller anyway, it makes a good Runner-up choice.

As for the controller itself, I like my Black CCP so this doesn't sway me towards getting the game.  Neat for those who are into that sort of thing, I guess.  I just hope that controller is worth having to slog through the new $50+ GoldenEye.

Ditto, Broodwars. The crowd who wants the Classic Controller Pro is us and we all acquired one months ago.

My interest in GoldenEye 007 is pretty fleeting. Nothing to do with it being a second go-around for GoldenEye, I'm just well and truly bored with this overpopulated genre. An FPS has to be quite radically unique for me to take much notice any more, and unfortunately, in Eurocom's attempt to modernise the game, it has become a bit bog-standard.

Maybe it was added later, but the article clearly states the price point of $70. Other sites are reporting the same thing.

A golden Wii remote would be neat, but I think a lot of people who would need four Wiimotes already have them. I am more attracted to the mini Wiimote and nunchuk so I wouldn't have welcomed a golden Wiimote.

Another thing I'm not welcome to is the $70 price point. I was expecting to have a CCP for just $10 along with a  first person shooter that I hope will be good. With the game's quality being highly suspect to me due to its direction and developer, this announcement has grown drastically less exciting.

I'll just buy the whole package and if the game turns out terrible I can sell it back fast at close to full retail and keep the controller. Total expenses would be a rental and a full priced CCPro.

Looks a little weird, I'm hoping it's shinier in person. It's also strange that it's $70, since bundles are usually a deal, and that also likely means it won't be available separately. I'm not interested enough in the game to buy it at launch, and I don't need a second Classic Controller, so I'd get the bundle only if I came across a good sale on it.

I wonder if this is a show of no-confidence in the motion controls of Goldeneye 007.
Yeah, I'm hoping that the Wiimote control isn't poor due to the focus on making the game a "classic." If there's one thing the Wii controller does well, it's shooters.

Maybe it was added later, but the article clearly states the price point of $70. Other sites are reporting the same thing.
When viewed from the forums, the price point is not mentioned. Perhaps this is NWR's subtle way of encouraging people to visit the front page?

I do at the start of my surfing usually. I have an RSS feed on my iGoogle page and I usually click on a news link then jump to the forums from there.

So updating the article doesn't update the forum post, and editing a forum post doesn't update the article page.  There's still a ways to go as far as integrating the site and forums.  (Not a complaint.  Just an observation.)

I'd guess it's probably the same issue that's causing both to happen. Though I'm actually not sure if even before the site redesign, editing the article also affected the Talkback thread; it might have had to have been edited separately. I'm just glad that they are integrating the site and forums as I like to be able to read the comments without clicking over to the thread.

For the first, it does, but somebody must have forgotten to press the update button.  I'll make it automatic.
For the second, it does too, but there's a cache, so there's a delay before the comments appear.  I'll be tuning this better.

Is it me or does the lady holding the controller have tiny hands?

I just compared her hands to mine in the same pose.  Her hand isn't tiny but her fingers are very thin.

So it's just growing pains, then.  For whatever it's worth, I am impressed. :thumbsup;

I think the controller is ugly.
I don't like the matte finished gold, I want some gold brick mirror polished gold CCPro.
