Title: Fire Emblem Remake Coming to North America?

Nintendo Power seems to think so.

Nintendo Power magazine features a list of upcoming games each month, and August's list contains a new Fire Emblem title for the Nintendo DS.

Entitled Fire Emblem: Heroes of Light and Shadow, this previously unannounced game is likely a localized version of Japan's upcoming DS title Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem - Hero of Light and Shadow.

Nintendo has yet to formally announce Fire Emblem: Heroes of Light and Shadow for North America, so no release information is currently available.

I can't seem to find this game listed in the "Game Forecast" section of the magazine. The only reference I've found of it is in the "Power Up" section which refers to it as "News From Japan".

I think it's a safe bet we'll get FE sometime in the fall, just don't expect ninetndo to PUSH the title.

I still don't see why people still act nervous with each new Fire Emblem game.  Considering every single Fire Emblem title released in North America has done better here then in Japan, of course the new game is coming over here.

Hasn't every game in the series that came out since the series was introduced here come out here?

I really don't see that happening any time soon, given the dominance of the DS (and handhelds in general) in Japan. Even if the series has sold better in America than in Japan, it wasn't by enough of a margin for Nintendo to make decisions about the franchise based on what it'll do here. Hell, even things like Metroid that never did well in Japan get changed to try and appeal to them.

This is for sure a DS title, but perhaps we will get a 3DS one a year or so from now.

I think that's why this is a remake: they're saving the real new one for the 3DS.

Actually on the handhelds the FE sold more on the GBA/DS systems in Japan than NA.  On the GC/WII FE sold more stateside. 

I really don't think we'll get a proper sequel to FE.  Grid based tactic games really don't sell and Nintendo made a few "comments" about continuing the series.  Namely it's going the way Pilot Wings did--we'll see a sequel 10  years down the road.  :(

I really love the FE series but it really could use a fresh coat of paint.
