Title: Kytim's Plans to Renovate His Wii Console Skins
Post by: Kytim89 on June 30, 2010, 05:49:43 PM
As you all know I recently posted pictures of my wii with skins that look like the NES color sceme with various Nintendo theme stickers. Well, my skins and stickers are getting a little long in the tooth and showing age wih slight wear and tear here and there and I think it is time to put a fresh set of skins for the console.

So what are you going to replace them with?
I propose random anime characters.

I propose just covering the Wii with giant multi-colored question marks, for obvious reasons. ;)

I was going to go with a better set of skins and stickers than what I have already. I found a good seller on ebay who is offering Mario in 8-bit form with varios costumes. Basically I just want to make what I have bigger and better and replace the aging skins on my console.

Well that is kinda boring. This is the funhouse. You need to be more adventurious and exciting.
Ok I think we should post pictures of Wiis that have different and adventurious stickers.

Putting skins on my consoles first started back in 2006 when I bought some flaming skulls sskins for my PS2. When I bought my DS Lite I put some skull skins on it as well. Finally, I bought my wii in the fall of 2008 and at the time I wanted a black wii, but the white one was the only one available. I was looking through ebay and found what appeared to be NES stlyed skins for the wii. I liked the idea of blending the old with the new and it seemed wise because of the virtual console. I bought the skins for the and put on the console.
Some time later I was at a local mall and I wnrt into this store called "For Your Entertainment." They ahd a large assortment of Nintendo memrobilia including stickers. I bought a couple of them and took them home. At first, I was only interested in putting those stickers on my notebook, but I placed one sticker on my NES wii and I liked what I saw. So, I placed all of Nintendo stickers on the console. I then searched ebay and found a large assortment of Nintendo stickers. Then I proceeded to decorate my wii.
Underneath the sticker that says, "Power to the Players," is where I hot glued a Punisher skull patch on the wii in its early days. When I decided that I did not want it on there any more, I tried to remove it and it tore a hole into the skins and left a bunch of residue that I had to scrape off before I could apply a new sticker. At first, I just placed a circular sticker over the hole, but I had to go with that bigger square one to cover up the hole. If you look close, you can see the outline of where I pulled the patch off.
The reason why I put skins on my console, strange as it may be, is mainly to prevent theft. The son of my uncle's girlfriend stole his PS2 by switching his broken one with my uncle's nearly new PS2. He almost didn't realize it until he started getting disc read errors and examined the console to find that had been abused. Although console skins would not keep a thief at bay, it would helop you know if you are in a situation like the one my uncle was in you could tell if it had been switched, or some one removed the skins themselves.
I am planning to remove all the stickers and replace them with better ones because these are getting old. On some parts the skins are actuallty coming loose from the console. There is a black gunkish reside on ceratin parts of the wii. The smokers in my home have helped the skins on the wii become cracked with yellow stains. Carefully examining the surface of the wii you can plainly see that the skins are wearing down. In short, my wii needs a make over, and I feel like I have an old, raggity house that needs a new paint job.

Where'd you get that nifty case that holds Wii Remotes? And what can you put in the compartment underneath the system?

Where'd you get that nifty case that holds Wii Remotes? And what can you put in the compartment underneath the system?
This nifty case was made by a company called Pelican. It came out early in the wii's life cycle and the area that holds the wiimote could not accomodate the wiimote jacket, nor the motion plus. I had to rearrange the foam cushion and rework some things before wiimote and the other stuff could be place into the case.
I bought the case at Gamestop for about ten dollars and it has the same glossy white finish as the wii console. Pelican stopped making these things a long time ago and they are pretty rare. The only thing I do not like about this case is that the hinges are very brittle can could break with relative ease. As a result, I am very careful to not get this case damged. If it was ever damaged, I would have a hard time getting a new one.
As for the compartment under the system, that space is reserved for the sensor bar. Basically you slide the sensor bar into the front of the case and then use a groove to wrap the cord around the case and plug it into the wii. There is no under compartments other than where the wiimote and sensor bar go.
Inside the the case, where the wiimote is stored, there is a ventilation port for the exhaust of the wii. When I was placing skins on the case I went to great pains to keep those vents uncovered, others the wii would over heat.

Renavate? What does that mean?
I believe it's renovate, or do I need more English classes?

What do you think of my wii and what would you like to see done to it?
That is a truly fantastic question to ask in the funhouse, and I'd take it and run with it if I weren't so exhausted.
EDIT: That should be Nintendo's new Wii commercial: two Japanese guys knock on someone's door and say that when the person opens the door.
This was the whole point of bringing up this topic. I started this topic in the fun house so that everyone could discuss their opinions, feelings about the my wii and talk about what they would do with their own system.

I'd ask everyone how they feel about my Wii (it's Black) but I think the topic would get a little out of hand(.....you need atleast 2).
