Title: what about the gerudos?
Post by: temjin11 on April 28, 2003, 01:54:59 PM
I know we all know what happened to the kokiri, zoras and gorons in the wind waker.

But...

what the hell happened to the gerudos? Here are possible explanations:

- they evolved into a new enemy (like the bobokins or somethin')

- they might not have been part of the group that fled to mountains and were spared

- they turned into normal people

these are just things I thought up in 5 minutes.

IF SOMEONE HAS THE REAL ANSWER OR A GOOD THEORY I'D LIKE TO HEAR IT!!!

what happened....?

One more thing: compare the sea chart and hyrule map from OoT.  You'll notice that there are many consistancies of where the things are.  Windfall island around the market, forest haven near kokiri forest, forsaken fortress near gerudo fortress... even the volcano island is near death mountain!!!  take a look at it.

I didn't bother to check but some people in another thread say they are the traders.

Edit: i am so dumb. I thought he said Goron.

Possible spoilers...
-------------------------------------

I believe the Gerudo were wiped out. My reasoning for this is as follows: Tetra states, as she and Link approach the Forsaken Fortress for the first time, that the Fortress used to be home to another band of pirates, "but they were only small time." This leads me to believe that she is referring to the Forsaken Fortress as being the Gerudo Fortress, which would make sense, since its now the hideout of Gannondorf, of the Gerudos. Perhaps the Gerudo females couldn't survive the flood or whatever. Anyway, there's my thoughts.

They were all killed.

By the hot days, and the cold nights, and when Ganendorf decided to whip up some wind to cover the land in water he forgot that their houses were made of sand.

Obviously there was a lack of proper Civil Engineering in the desert (as demonstrated above), and Ganon lacked the foresight as a public official to address this public safety issue.

That's what comes of a dictatorship.  If they had a constitutional monarchy with free elections then Ganondorf would end up as the official opposition.

Ganondorf didn't flood the world, the gods did.  I figger the gerudos just died.

My explanation is based on the lifestyle of the Gerudo themselves...A man was born once EVERY HUNDRED YEARS.  With no means of reproduction(at least, none that are explainable), don't you think that eventually the race would be wiped out by this strange tradition/occurrence?

They died. Jeez...

Oh, if you want to know how they died, Ganondorf tells you at the end of Wind Waker.

If you read gossip stones in OoT, youll find that every few years, the gerudo's would get drunk (probably, cause they hate men) and go to the market to find dates.

Therefore, them being isolated from men when the ocean flooded, they died out.  This sounds like a reasonable idea.

That's only people that pretend to live in Arabia, like several centuries ago.  Nowadays they wear tons of clothes and most of them are old.

I'd like to know what happened to the original little Princess Zelda (and her band of merry men who parallel the pirates) that's depicted in the lovely painting in Hyrule Castle, other than the fact she died.

Has any body thought that The Gerudos ancestors are still alive, after all they werent a different race they were human women who happened to call themselves the Gerudos. You wouldnt be able to tell wht humans are anscestors of them, its not like they would wear a neon sign.
