Sega announced today that Conduit 2 will support Wii MotionPlus.

The sequel to last year's first-person shooter developed by High Voltage Software, Conduit 2 will use Nintendo's peripheral for better control and tracking. It will also help keep the pointer accurate when it reaches the side of the screen.

MotionPlus will not be a requirement, but it will be another addition to the control options in Conduit 2.

Conduit 2 to Support Wii MotionPlus

Track down your enemies with enhanced controls

LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (10th June, 2010) – SEGA® Europe Ltd. and SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced that Conduit 2™,  the latest collaboration with High Voltage Software, will support Wii MotionPlus™ enabling precision control and better tracking. The Conduit series is famed for its detailed control system allowing players to customise and configure their controls, including look sensitivity, turning speed, the dead zone and much more. Conduit 2 will use Wii MotionPlus to create the most responsive control system ever, as well as improved edge tracking and transitions to pointer control.     "Wii MotionPlus is something that the fans have been asking for since it was announced - we looked at it for the original game, took a look at its implementation in other titles, and ultimately felt that we could add to the experience in Conduit 2 by supporting it." explains Eric Nofsinger, Chief Creative Officer of High Voltage Software."It's by no means required - gamers will have a great experience without it - but it does offer a level of extra control and adds value to those with the accessory."     Conduit 2 will be playable at SEGA’s booth (#2023) at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo and will be released exclusively for the Wii™ system from Nintendo in Fall 2010.

Just posted this in the Conduit 2 topic. You are getting quicker.

Anyway I think the question everybody is thinking of is "What can Motion+ offer in a shooter?"
Maybe there will be Melee weapons or maybe they will use it for grenades. Maybe some of the weapons utilize Motion+ somehow?

Well, name a Nintendo peripheral and High Voltage will be right there to reply that they'll support it.   ::)   I applaud their enthusiasm, but lack of Motion + melee combat or precision grenade throwing was nowhere near being the worst issue in the first game.

I'm not really certain how that can work, but I also don't understand why it is necessary. I never had issue with the pointer in The Conduit or any other shooter on the Wii. But I guess this may help people with a more constrained setup.

I was just throwing some ideas that could be possibly used for Motion+ Broodwars.Don't get bent out of shape about it.

Condom Unit 2, enhanced with Lotion Plus (Lotion Plus sold separately in the same aisle).  For enhanced sensitivity and smoother aim.  Increase your pleasure by playing cooperatively, multiplying your excitement with multiple partners.

* Condom Unit 2, enhanced with Lotion Plus, is not guaranteed to prevent pregnancy.  However, studies show that video games decrease pregnancy rates in certain populations.

Sounds great, actually. I like the idea of MP taking over for orientation when the pointer goes off-screen. It should smooth out those times when your hand strays too far.

Great news.  Anything that has the potential to improve controls is a positive in my book.  Hopefully, it will be turned on by default when the game detects you have Wii MotionPlus.  I enjoyed The Conduit and all of their efforts and passion that went into its development.  I am looking forward to learning about all the other improvements and new features for the sequel.

This games seems more and more like it is going t be radical leap forward over the first game in regards to quality. I could be wrong, but perhaps High Voltage is going to make this game good and I am eager to see what kind of score it gets once it is released.

Could the Conduit series be considred the wii's Perfect Dark?

In order for that to happen, the Wii needs to have a Goldeneye first. That hasn't happened yet, but maybe this game will be it.

There's no reason there needs to be a Goldeneye first, and the first game could easily have been it. Goldeneye is not so impressive anymore. Perfect Dark is.

Yeah. At least they finally released Perfect Dark on the Arcade. It's pretty sweet. No slowdowns or anything.

Actually, I had quite a bit of fun playing the multiplayer in Perfect Dark Zero with friends of mine. It can be had for so cheap it was easy for all of us to get copies, and it plays pretty well. Single player is god-awful, though.

Goldeneye is very important to the evolutionary chain. Perfect Dark wouldn't have existed if it weren't for the developers' experience creating Goldeneye, so it must come first. The Conduit wasn't it, because it doesn't compare to the quality of Goldeneye during its time. The Conduit 2 might, then after that, maybe they could attempt a Perfect Dark.

Except we'll likely never get another Perfect Dark, because it is more than simply a good shooter. Perfect Dark is pure shooting action with no added complications or fluff to get in its way. There are no modern shooters like that, and releasing one would probably be viewed as archaic. If there were any genre I'd want to see go back to basics, it's the FPS. I ♥ Doom.

It's the first step in a two-generation old evolutionary chain. The only reason Goldeneye had to exist first was because the developers were forced to fight with both the controller and the hardware. Now neither is an issue. Assuming that there has to be a Goldeneye first is backwards thinking and counter-intuitive to the progression of video games in general.

That's taking things too literally.

Glad someone's making use of the M+ but yeah, they have to improve the game alot to be worth my time.   Of course if they do remake the game shouldn't they go with a "new" title?  Reminds me of Red Steel.  The first one sucked and it killed the sales of the sequel which was vastly improved over the first.  A smart publisher would ditch the name.

The game is confirmed to be continuing the story of the first game (unlike Red Steel 2, which had nothing in common with the first game other than the focus on swordplay), so doing a new name would not b the best idea.
