Nothing puts the fear in the bad guys like a giant, red and yellow piece of plastic, flying at you at relatively slow speeds, encasing you like a mummy, then disappearing into nothingness. It may leave you physically unharmed, but, mentally, as you lie there in the floor, covered in your own urine (because, damnit, you piss yourself when there's a giant, paper-thin S flying at you), mentally, you're as helpless as a baby. Then, I'll come up and kick you in the nads.

Even when I was little kid watching Superman 2 on TV I thought, "Since when does Superman have this power?"

Speed is the obvious answer. Accomplish tasks in a short amount of time, save time and money on travel, see the world, never have to worry about a stupid quicktime event in a video game ever again...

If you have nothing but super Speed that you're pretty much just the Flash. And no one wants to be the Flash. :Q

Any of you ever see the Elseworld's comic where in the future several men are given one of Superman's powers?
Super Strength can barely touch anything without destroying it. Flight can't stick to the ground to walk and has to be tethered so he doesn't float away X-ray vision is blind except for X-ray vision Invulnerable can't feel anything And Heat vision has to dispel his laser eyes every half an hour or his head will explode.

I'm sorry--I didn't know UncleBob specified that you had to take a shitty version of one of the powers. I thought the choice would be mine.
Besides, wouldn't the guy who got stuck with super speed have his joints ripped from his limbs because he wasn't strong enough to keep his body together?

The TV Tropes wiki has an interesting page on Required Secondary Powers (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RequiredSecondaryPowers).
Please don't blame me if you lose a great many hours of your life on that wiki now that I've linked to it. I probably befell the same fate just for looking up the page.

I found the 40's Batman serials on DVD at Toys R Us today. Watched the first episode. Awesome.
