I've given this some thought lately. I think it would be better to have 3.6 Million dollars, less hassle. But if it was billions...
- Build a skyscraper and name it after my family - Create a sustainable export business to China, (maybe used cars?) - Hire Cyan studios to build my video game with me - Make a national television commercial and produce something that is just 30 seconds of entertainment, not selling any product. - Buy Greg Leahy an owner's stake in the Buffalo Bills

If I had 3.6 billion I would buy Rare from Microsoft and distribute their games onto the Virtual console service for all of us to enjoy. :cool;

Create a self-sustaining foundation that provides grants for research projects under-funded areas of biomedical science (i.e. NOT molecular biology, systems biology, cancer research, heart disease research, Alziehemer's research, or other popular areas). It would also only include legitimate areas of research, not alternative medicine.

I'd retire. Put all my money into a high interest earning offshore account and live off the interest.
Maybe buy my own island, upgrade it with all the technological amenities of today and live like a King on my own country island.

If I could get a high interest account of lets say 12% on $3.6Billion I would be looking at $432Million a year in interest.
I could spend $432 million a year, every year, and still have $3.6Billion in the bank[collecting interest]. If I didn't spend $432million a year, then I would only have that more more money collecting interest so that I have that much more to spend every year.
Family taken care of for an eternity..... on just the interest alone.

If you assume 0.1% annual interest (which for that amount of money is probably small), that is still 3.6 million dollars a year. That is probably plenty.
Although it doesn't take into account inflation.

Sign me up for that interest! A few years ago you might have been able to find a money markey account or something with a 12% yield, but since all the major economies suck now, I'd be happy to find a 5% guaranteed interest rate.
I don't think Bill Gates and the Sultan of Bruni could spend 432 mill a year every year.

That's really ironic, because that's the exact opposite of what I'd do with it.
That would be plenty of money to download every game on the Wii Shop Channel.
I could buy a giant mansion and put a Wii in every room and download every game on the Wii Shop on each one of them.
Imagine how many Club Nintendo coins that'd get me...

I'd spend up to $20K on a suped up Mac Pro, then get an iPad, then buy a mansion and pimp it out over time with the interest plan. Also, I'd stay in school forever and get every degree I could.

If I had 3.6 billion I'd have the money to keep buying the solid gold ones for a while, but since the thing would be practically unusable because the Wi-Fi and 3G antennas are behind metal I'd probably just go back to the regular ones
