Title: Okamiden

Not even a release date in that trailer. What a tease.
The game looks great on the DS. I cannot wait.

Yeah, not sure if seeing new trailer is a good thing for me because it makes the wait just that much more painful. :(

I am just happy to see something Okami related once again. Hopefully if this does well we will see a new Wii game eventually also.

My excitement is tempered by the knowledge that the original team isn't working on it. It could still be good, but...

The Phoenix Wright team is supposedly behind the development on this game. Supposedly.

All I know for sure that it isn't one of Capcom's C-grade developers making it.

I thought the Phoenix Wright team was working on Ghost Trick, not Okamiden?

No reason they could be working on both.

That IS heartening, but I wonder how their experience is going to transfer over? They're radically different genres, after all.

I still have yet to play the first Okami but I'm going to have to now before I buy this game. I'm sure Capcom will be showing more at E3, and this is one game I think could strongly benefit from a 3D upgrade

Isn't it already out in Japan? If so it's probably too late to get a 3DS overhaul.

It's currently scheduled for a "2010" release in Japan, but it's not out yet.

Is it safe to assume that Okamiden could be the swansong of the DS? Much in the same way God of War 2 was to the Playstation 2?

How so? The original may have gotten good scores, but it sold poorly. Besides, the DS looks like it could be strong for at least a few more years. Especially since Pokemon Black and Pokemon White will be much bigger games (in sales, maybe in reception too). It's still nice to be getting a game like this late in the DS's lifespan though.

Stratos, as Shaymin said, the game is not out yet. It has a vague "2010" release date for Japan and a 2011 release date for other regions.

God of War 2 came out long after the PS3's release. I expect the DS, like the PS2, to remain a viable platform well into the life of its successor.

I wouldn't call 4 months "long". The PlayStation 3 launched in November 2006, God of War II was released in March 2007.

Two months ago I bought Okami without knowing much about the series or any interest, but after playing it I ended up really liking it. I'm not finished with it, but I do plan on getting Okamiden. It would be cool to find a place around here with a demo to try out. Here's a Bosses Trailer: http://www.ign.com/videos/2011/01/05/okamiden-big-bosses-trailer?objectid=29596

It was reviewed in this month's GI--think it scored 9.25 off the top of my head.

The only gripe they had was because it was on the DS it had smaller areas and loading but that's about it.

Really glad it recieved a port but hell I can already tell this game isn't going to sell--bad time of year and it's going up Pokemon---Bleh.  10+ years later and pokeon hasn't seen a major gameplay change, it's still retelling the same old story with one or two differences yet it sells MILLIONS.

Oh yeah, Pokemon White/Black was reviewed as well and I think it scored 8.75.

It's not a port, it's a brand new game. I hope the game sells well (even though I am not interested in it), but the console game didn't do well. And yeah, Pokemon will overshadow it.

Okamiden might be coming to the 3DS. A listing on the Capcom press site shows it as coming to both the DS and 3DS. DS is listed for March, 3DS has a TBD.

I'd love a 3DS enhanced version.

As the article points out though, it could just be a mistake because the same press site lists Resident Evil: Revelations as a DS game.

True. Though Capcom responded fast to the inquiry late at night with what amounts to a 'no comment'.

Plus Revelations makes some sense being listed as a DS game. They probably announced the game before they had created a 3DS category on the site so they just shoved it into the DS category. And producers have stated they would love to see Okamiden on the 3DS. Though on the other hand they did say it was too far into production to make it a 3DS title but they could always have decided to make an enhanced version for 3DS.

FWIW, the Capcom Euro press site does not list 3DS, even though they added the same assets.

Nick has a theory about it based on the html code in the press site.

It is a long shot but I'd love another good reason for the 3DS.

It's now been removed from the US site.

So I've heard. Pity, I'd have totally gone for a 3DS enhanced version.
