Title: Questions for Dive: The Medes Island Secret
Post by: NWR_Neal on April 19, 2010, 11:18:54 AM
I recommend three steps for this.

1) Check our recent news story (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=22936) about Dive: The Medes Island Secret.

2) Bask in how cool it looks for a few minutes/hours/days

3) Come up with some questions that we can ask the developer.

Note: You have until Thursday April 22 to submit questions.

Q: It is mentioned that we will have weapons in the game; how is the game balanced in terms of combat versus exploration? Will it be more exploratory with occasional entanglements or more like a traditional Metrod/Castlevania title with a fair amount of battles and bosses?

Q: How did you come to team up with Over The Top Games and end up using their engine? Did they approach you? Vise-versa?

Q: What games do you prefer to make? What is your dream genre to develop?

Q: Will there be any multiplayer or co-op?

Q: Do you have plans or desires to utilize online at all either in the form of leaderboards, multiplayer, user generated content, DLC or other surprises?

*Just as an FYI, Neal, I don't care if you decide to reword any of my questions ever to broaden/narrow its scope or streamline it. If I ever care about the wording I will mention it.

- Upgrades are purchased with treasures? Does that mean we have free choice which upgrades to take as long as we have enough money or are upgrades tied to specific treasures?

Q: An underwater 3D game allows the player to move anywhere in the three dimensions, where a standard 3D game limits exploration with gravity. Was it a challenge to design levels where the player has more freedom?

Responding to Stratos comment and talking to everyone in general, most of these questions do get reworded slightly, especially when we have overlap in questions coming from the forums and the staffers.

As long as the Q&A isn't restricted and the question isn't dumb, it will most likely get sent over to them. Some of them might come back with crap answers or not answered at all, but I'll let the interviewees make that call.
