Sega officially announced High Voltage Software's The Conduit 2 today after it was revealed by Nintendo Power earlier this week.

The only thing the press release below mentions that was in Nintendo Power is the "Conduit 2 Get Your Head In the Game Sweepstakes," which begins on April 2.

  CONDUIT 2™ GOES TO WAR

SEGA and High Voltage to deliver the most complete shooter on the Wii™

SAN FRANCISCO & LONDON (March  31st, 2010) – SEGA® of America, Inc. and SEGA® Europe Ltd. are excited to announce Conduit 2™,  the new collaboration with High Voltage Software, Inc., developer of  the award-winning Wii shooter, The Conduit. Conduit 2 will be released exclusively for the Wii™ system from Nintendo in Fall 2010.

Building upon the success of the original, Conduit 2 will take players to the far reaches of the world to stop an alien invasion that can be fought in single-player, online multi-player battles, and all-new off and online co-op modes.  Armed with advanced and powerful weapons, players can expect massive action in large, multi-tiered levels featuring dynamic environments, cinematic battles, giant boss enemies, and deep customization features.

Conduit 2 introduces Team Invasion Mode, the new co-op mode where players will be able to battle side-by-side with up to four friends on the same screen. Additionally Team Invasion Mode can be played online.

Conduit 2 also features a new and more expansive 12-player online competitive multiplayer mode with larger and more intricate indoor and outdoor battlefields.  Conduit 2 supports Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection, Wii Speak™ and offers increased multiplayer security for a better online gameplay experience.

"Conduit 2 is an enormous sequel.  Not only does it greatly improve and expand on the original, the online and co-op play modes aim to raise the bar for Wii war games," said Sean Ratcliffe, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America.

"The Conduit was the first of many original IP's being developed by our studio." said Kerry J. Ganofsky, CEO and founder of High Voltage Software. "That's why it gives me great pleasure to announce a sequel with a thrilling and exciting online experience."     "The support for the original has been amazing." said Eric Nofsinger, HVS Chief Creative Officer. "The fans have always been a major factor in our development process and their continued enthusiasm has helped make Conduit 2 even better."     Conduit 2 is set to release in Fall 2010 exclusively for Wii with an anticipated "T" rating. For more information on the game please visit the SEGA website at www.conduit2game.com. Also players are invited to enter the Conduit 2 Get Your Head In the Game Sweepstakes, starting on April 2nd.

Ouch.  Why would you even release screenshots of a build that early?  Those Conduit 2 screens look like an N64 game like Perfect Dark, not something you'd play on the Wii.  As for the game itself: meh.  They'd have to radically improve the gameplay and level design to make me want to buy another Conduit game.

broodwars, almost all Wii screen shots are pixelized crap. That actually looks pretty decent, at least as far as the enemy armor goes.

Actually, I was looking at the environmental geometry.  I've come to expect Wii screenshots to be pixelated, so I wasn't surprised to see it here.

Don't take this the wrong way, but are you trying to say that you could do better or that you could do no worse?

its hard to say, the specs of the Wii are still a mystery. Also, I don't know what HV's Tool set is like. Actually, I was planning on applying over there anyways. The company seems like one with heart and its on my top 3 list of companies to apply to. I'm sure I could do as well on the level building side, but not on the modeling. I'm not very good yet..with building people at least. I think they can do better though.

but compare this screen from a first gen gamecube game

keep in mind the guy who built this level works for Sony now on the God of War series.

to this gen Wii game, but these are early screens...however this is a sequel. Early screens should look better than the last game.

now to be fair there are no models in the ED screenshot, but there are models when you do play the game

There's no way that Eternal  Darkness screenshot isn't a bull shot.  Regardless, those screenshots don't look good but when do Wii screenshots ever look good besides when they're resolution is jacked up?

well one of the deals with eternal darkness is there isn't much in the way of real time lighting, there some clever use of light maps and textures.

here's a first gen gamecube first person adventure

To be fair, that's a terrible comparison, Perm.

The first screenshot looks like ass in a box, and the level looks like a ripoff of one from Halo.

Oh well. Sounds like they've been paying attention.
