Title: Virtual Console Controller Adapter.
Post by: Kytim89 on March 25, 2010, 10:11:10 PM
I bought an adapter a while back that allows me to play virtual console games with their respective controllers. The adapter is suited for NES/SNES/N64/genesis controllers. However, I read that a Genesis controller and a Master System Controller use the same cable ports(D9 or something). So, I was wondering if I could plug a master system controller into the genesis adapter port and play master system virtual console games? I think the commodore 64 uses the same cable port as the Genesis/MS(D9) and can I do the same with that as the MS controller?

I also came across a TG-16 controller at the flea market for $2($30 on ebay (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/Smileys/default/tongue.gif): ) but there is no port for it on my adapter. So, I was wondering if any body knew of an adapter to plug this controller into the gamecube port on the wii or any other alternative? Using the wiimote as an alternative is too boring for me.

The same goes for a Neo-Geo controller.

I have discovered that you can actually use a genesis controller with both master system and commodore 64 VC games. I just ordered a master system controller to use on the adapter along with a commodore 64 controller.

According to my source, all of the Atari controllers can be uses through the genesis port on the adapter. If Atari games were ever released for virtual console, this would be a good adapter to use the controllers with. I believe this is due to the controller cables being D9EM or something.

Second, I discovered that a genesis controller can be used to play neo-geo games on the VC. I used the controller with Magician Lord and found almost no problems. It is almost as if the game is actually a genesis title. However, I do not own a neo-geo controller,  but I waonder if the controller for the neo-geo has the same port as the genesis? I will have to find out and report back for my findings.

As for the TG-16, I have been unable to find any kind of adpater to use it for. The cable end for the turbo pad is not compatible with any of the ports on the adapter. However, I have the idea to slice the wire from a NES controller into the turbo pad. Then plug the NES plug that is spliced into the turbo pad into the VC adapter and play TG-16 games though the NES port on the adapter.

My question is, would this work? The two controller have the same button lay out and the cables are about the same size.
