Title: Call of Duty going Action-Adventure?

So I think COD is starting to approach "over saturated" faster than Mario is. One title a year, every year since 2007(?) and now with an action adventure title?

*waits for the inevitable Call of Duty: Mii Party Edition*

Well, Kotick had to do a little Gleichschaltung to get IW to cooperate...

Gleichschaltung

I prefer to use my imagination and think of all the horrible, horible things a German word like gleichschaltung could mean.

It's a specific term used by the Nazi regime to describe sending the SA around to subdue and control any previously independent organizations. Mostly by forcefully removing their existing leaders and replacing them with party members.

Dude. Did you miss the whole big thing with Activision and Robert Kotick (CEO)?

Quote from: Wikipedia
he stated that focusing on franchises that "have the potential to be exploited every year on every platform with clear sequel potential and have the potential to become $100 million franchises" has "worked very well for [Activision Blizzard]". Kotick described this business strategy as "narrow and deep" and cited it as key to attracting development talent who may not be drawn to "speculative franchises".

The dude is a grade-A asshole.

Mario is not even close to being over-saturated, so there is a flaw with your argument.

The argument is broken, namely because people lack common sense in realizing that Nintendo doesn't always develop the Mario side-titles in-house. Most are developed by second/third party developers, the most recent being Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games by Sega. How much control Nintendo has over some of them... is sometimes a good question.

Also Mario titles are so varied, most of them use the name without using any of the key gameplay principles so it's not the Mario game that's getting worn out, at most the character but there's really not much to the character anyway.

I deliberately picked Mario to poke fun at the other thread about Mario being over-saturated.
