Title: Nintendo Australia Confirms Other M, Galaxy 2 for Summer

Metroid: Other M and Super Mario Galaxy 2 should be hitting stores between June and August.

 Nintendo Australia announced that Metroid: Other M and Super Mario Galaxy 2 aren't holiday releases and are coming out between June and August, according to IGN.    

This reveal isn't entirely unexpected, as Metroid: Other M was listed as "Summer 2010" on a Japanese release schedule that was released in January. On that same list, Super Mario Galaxy 2 was slated for a more ambiguous 2010 release.    

There should be concrete information about Metroid: Other M and Super Mario Galaxy 2's North American release dates tomorrow at Nintendo's Q1 Media Summit in San Francisco.

I think the original rumor I heard about this was stating that the SMG2 release in June was a worldwide one, but it's all in dutch and it's hard to decipher.

Considering that New Play Control! Pikmin was a great game and we haven't gotten the second one yet, NO. Plus, there are other GCN games that deserve a NPC release.

Before this gets derailed, it was a joke. I was just stating that last year all we got were NPC releases and some notable releases here and there. This year, we have two big titles IF this is to be believed. Just pointing out how this year might be Nintendo's best if they decide to keep it up.

I want new play control: Luigi's Mansion. I never got to play the first, and heard the controls were its weakest point.

Really? I thought the game's length and lack of a real end-game bonus were the weakest.

But Luigi's Mansion was one of my favorite GC games. Wii controls would be awesome.

Nintendo committing to summer releases for these games must mean they're pretty damn sure Zelda's going to be ready for the holiday season.

I call bullshit on this.  I just can't imagine Nintendo releasing two games of this calibre so close together.  I'll wait for a solid release date announced from NOA.  Even if both games are ready who's to say that NOA won't intentionally stagger them.

And doesn't Australia get every games like two years late anyway?  THAT territory is going to get these games in the summer?

I actually don't want these to be released so close together as I figure I'll neglect one in favour of the other.  I remember when Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire came out like a week before Wind Waker.  Well I played Pokemon for exactly one week and then neglected it for Zelda.  I never got around to getting back to it.  In this case Metroid would get priority since it likely be the more original title.

Ian I think you should check the Media Summit blog. Oh keep in mind that the North American summit is for games released in the first half of the year.

Well I was wrong.  They are actually releasing these games only a month apart.  That just seems so weird.

A month thankfully is far enough apart so as to give me time to get some serious play time with Mario first.

I'm much more open to the idea of Zelda actually being released this year now.  I honestly did not expect this two titles to be so close together and yet here we are.
