In the third quarter earnings report in which they announced massive losses despite strong software sales, Namco Bandai has confirmed that Wii games proved to be successful for them.  The company sold 3,765,000 units across nine Wii software releases for the first nine months of 2009.

According to their top ten best sellers list, the most successful titles were their Ben 10 series of games, with Alien Force selling over 800,000 units across many platforms including Wii and DS. Active Life: Extreme Challenge sold 460,000 units, while the Japan-exclusive Wii title Taiko Drum Master 2 sold 380,000 copies.

The full list is as follows:

Japanese sales made up the bulk of Namco Bandai's overall worldwide sales, with 65 titles selling over 6 million units.

God those Tekken 6 sales are positively abysmal.

Abysmal sales means they're going to port it to Wii to try to recoup some of the cost, right?

Yeah, but now it will be a level based brawler with awkward controls meant for a fighting game.

This isn't the late 90's. Nobody cares about Tekken anymore. Let the series die on the HD consoles.

Tekken pretty much died on Tekken 3. True fact.

I thought people still cared around the time Tekken 5 came out, the hype for 6 didn't seem to be there though. Doesn't matter to me though, I hate Tekken and much prefer Tatsunoko vs Capcom.

Tekken 6 was basically a headliner for One of Sony's E3's (2006 or 2007).  I'd say it was pretty important for it to come out and sell a fraction of the older games.  Probably the source of Namco's gigantic shortfall, too, thought they won't blame the 360 and PS3 for it, probably.

Maybe I wasn't paying attention considering I don't have a PS3...
