Title: Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth Questions
Post by: NWR_Neal on January 27, 2010, 02:09:01 PM
Hey everyone!
We have an interview opportunity with Ace Attorney Investigations' lead producer Motohide Eshiro.
If any of you have some questions you want to throw his way, let me know as soon as possible.

I guess I have more general questions, rather than pertaining to the game itself... And because I am a geek, I use the Japanese names. Translations at bottom.
Series creator Shu Takumi has been working on his new game, Ghost Trick; so where is the Gyakuten Saiban series headed? Has someone else taken the helm?
A big (albeit puerile) concern for series fans is the canonization of intimate character relationships (i.e. shipping and pairing), which the writers of GS have thus far cleverly avoided. How long can they keep this up? It reminds me of television writing, in a way, and I'd personally like to know whether we should watch out for a "developing" storyline or just more continued adventures like the series has been thus far.
Gyakuten Saiban has been tiptoeing into the cross-platform arena, first with the PC versions and now available on WiiWare. Has there been consideration for DSiWare, or other mobile devices? Will Gyakuten Kenji be a part of this cross-platform movement?
Perhaps this is a question more for the character designers, but will we ever have another character with Ayasato Chihiro's... ahem... "presence"?
Gyakuten Saiban = Ace Attorney Mitsurugi Reiji = Miles Edgeworth Ayasato Chihiro = Mia Fey "presence" = mams

I don't know if he'll take questions on future plans but I was wondering if we would see Apollo Justice return. I think that's the best Ace Attorney game myself although I do have one more to play.

Will Edgeworth have a cute sidekick like the defense attorneys? If so who will it be? I haven't been following the game so if its been released in Japan I will settle for an english name

Is this a good game to start at for newcomers to the series or is the original game the best one to start with?

Will other prosecutors get an investigation game or would it only stay with Edgeworth if successful?

I am offended by the idea that we might someday see a Ace Attorney Investigations: Franziska von Karma game.

Only a foolish fool would foolishly suggests such a foolish game with his foolishly fool words. I would like to see the foppish Gavin have a crack at it or even Ema Sky. Can't comment on Godot as that is the last game I have yet to play in the Ace Attorney series.

I made that joke close to a year ago. (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=24718.msg417507#msg417507) Get with the times.

W-w-w-what are you talking about?
My impression is perfect. That post is such a farce, it doesn't even count.
*curtsey*
Well, if I had the time and skills, I'd make a video of her cracking the whip set to Devo's Whip It. Actually, that would probably help make her a more appealing character. That's the joke.

Actually, back on topic, one that that has often interested me is how they get their ideas? How do they plot out the stories or come up with some of the scenarios they have done? Do they read mystery fiction or watch mystery shows for inspiration or is it all done by their writers?

Mikumo Ichijou, or Kay Faraday She wears a short skirt and has ridiculous hair, and like any fashionable Ace Attorney lady sports equally ridiculous neckwear.
SHE BUTT IN ON EMA'S RIGHTFUL PLACE AND DOESNT AFRAID OF ANYTHING >:(

I too am curious about this. I've almost finished the first Phoenix Wright game on WiiWare and fell in love with it. I'd prefer to play all of the games in order for story sake alone but may be willing to skip to this one since it's a different series.

I'm not the producer, but I'll answer anyway. Even though he'll tell you otherwise, he's lying--it's best to play the games in order. The charm of the series is so dependent on it's characters you'll miss out on a lot if you don't play the game sin order. There are reoccurring characters confirmed for this game that Stratos hasn't even met yet if he's only played the first game.

Actually only one character from any of the later games comes into play here. Even all of the hidden fan service comes from the first game....

Future question: Do you think that 3D effects will help your Ace Attorney games? Are you planning on making future 3DS versions of the game?
