Title: Castlevania: Rondo of Blood Gets ESRB Rating
Post by: NWR_Lindy on January 25, 2010, 10:16:06 PM
Looks like Richter and Maria are coming across the pond.

Late last month, a Virtual Console release of Konami's TurboGrafx-16 CD-ROM classic Castlevania: Rondo of Blood made an appearance in the listings of the Australian OFLC ratings board.  Fans of the series hoped that this event heralded an imminent North American release, and it seems that their prayers have been answered.

A recent listing on the ESRB website all but confirms the impending release of the title, presumably on the North American Virtual Console service.  Castlevania: Rondo of Blood is given a Teen rating for "Animated Blood [and] Fantasy Violence".

No date has been announced for the game's release.

Oh for the days when being rated by the ESRB actually meant something...

*eyes Earthbound.*

If this game actually arrives over here, I might check it out.

It's really good, but tough as nails. If you want to try it right now, go find Castlevania: The Dracula Chronicles X (PSP). The main game is a 2.5D remake of Rondo, but the original Rondo is unlockable, as is Symphony of the Night.

I always thought making the classic version an unlockable was stupid.  This is the first ever release in North America but in order to access the original version the player has to play the remake first, thus SPOILING the game for himself before he gets to play the original.  I don't mind that in Metroid: Zero Mission because the original game was released in this region.  So for the Japanese release this is fine but the North American release should have taken this into account and just made the original game available right from the beginning.

So it'll be really awesome to get it on the VC since one can bypass the remake.  Plus, you know, who the hell owns a PSP? ;)

Apparently the game is coming soon to the VC but it will not be in English. This is a Castlevania game so it isn't like it needs to be in English. Nothing really you need to figure out from the text.

I think you mean who owns PSP games, lol. PSP hardware sell pretty well, it's just that PSP software doesn't (most PSP owners seem to just pirate games, I will even admit that the only PSP game I bought is Taito Legends 2 and that's just because the custom firmware wouldn't work without a UMD in the system).

I wouldn't be surprised if it's not translated. Someone from Konami even said that is why we haven't gotten the game yet; Konami wanted to translate the game but Nintendo won't allow import VC games to be translated (I assume it is to make it seem like the real game).

I own 2 psp games. This is one. It's ****. If I knew I had to beat the remake to unlock symphony of the night I wouldn't have bought it.

You don't have to BEAT it. You find it as an item in one of the levels, which immediately unlocks it.
