Title: NWR New Years Resolutions for 2010
Post by: BeautifulShy on December 30, 2009, 07:01:51 PM
Ok so in a few days 2010 is going to be rolling around. I am wondering what everybody has for their resolution.
I personally want to do these things.
-Gain more weight. I have a very high metabolism.I tend to get taller without putting much weight on.

Move to Washington. Still planing on moving.

Finally I want to finish school.

So what about you?

-Gain more weight.

Yeah, my problem is I have too much money. My new year's resolution is to spend it.

Visit NWR less. I might come up with something more, I actually haven't given it much thought, to be honest.

Gain weight. I want to get to 180 pounds and STAY THERE.

Also, get a new, better job to replace the one I was just laid off from.

Maxi and Halbred can have the weight that I'm resolving to lose. I'll mail it to them.

Also, I'd like to make some kind of effort at getting into my gaming backlog, which I didn't help this year by buying 75 games and actually playing about a third of them. And finally I'd like to get out there and meet more people; I'm spending too much time alone in my room. Now that I think of it, the second and third resolutions kind of conflict with each other. So I guess my bonus fourth resolution is to find a way to never sleep, which will give me time to do the first three.

I'm able to stay awake for upwards of 30 hours but that usually ends with me crashing and sleeping for 12 or so hours. My dream is to not have to sleep at all, which is sadly not scientifically possible.

Return to my martial arts training.

Return to school.

Play more games...my untouched backlog is a little depressing.

I'd say I'd like to read more books in my spare time. I'd also like to write more, rather than only working on it for class. I'd like to lose some weight, but I don't see that happening this year.

In my gaming life, I'd like to:
-Finish Final Fantasy 6
-Play through more Zelda games
-Play more games online

Finally, for fun, make up my own version of Calvinball.

My resolution is to sleep more. I've never seen the big appeal of sleeping. It always seemed like such a poor use of time to me. Then again, looking into it, there are some benefits, such as, you know, not being tired all the time.

I wanted to guess shorter based on your current weight and the fact that you want to be heavier.

My original guess would have been closer to 5'5.5"/5'6"

Yeah I suppose that is true, Maxi. I guess I could be resolute towards diminishing my backlog of games.

2) Finish Super Mario Galaxy

2) Finish Super Mario Galaxy
By "finish" do you mean beat the game for the first time or complete it 100%?

As in the case of Chrono Trigger get all endings and in the case of SMG get all the stars.

That ain't so bad.  I'm 5'10" 132 lbs (on a good day).  Early in 2009 I weighed as little as 117 lbs!  I have done well at putting on a little weight in the 2nd half of the year, and I plan on continuing through 2010.

I also resolve to stay on top of all my classes this semester, including math.  I've always paid less effort to this subject.  Thankfully I should be done with all pure math courses after this semester!

I'm 5'10.5" and at my leanest(back in HS) was around 145lbs, and that was around 0% body fat.
Right now I probably weigh close to 230lbs and would love to slim it back down to 190lbs, all muscle.

I will finish P90X.

Just have a small frame I suppose.  I don't look malnourished, I just don't keep much weight on me.  A little after I turned 21 my weight seemed to redistribute itself in accordance with a typical adult male distribution, helping me look a little more muscular.

Ok so in a few days 2010 is going to be rolling around. I am wondering what everybody has for their resolution.....So what about you?

After last year's debacle (I blame Obama), I decided to make my resolution more realistic and less serious. At first I thought it would be funny if I could only dance below the waste, but then I thought about how impractical that would be at the world cup. So then I thought it might be hilarious if I were crazy superstitious, but that'd never work.

So I finally decided upon this:

My new years resolution is to follow up on any crazy idea that is brought up at least three times and talked about at length in one sitting.

2. Book at least one non commercial SAG speaking role!
3. Heal my right leg completely!
4. Earn my 2nd Degree black belt!
5. Get my super top secret script into pre-production!

Can I do it? Yes I can! Why? It's the year of the Tiger, and I was born in 86! Time for me to shine brighter than ever before!

My goal is to LOSE weight since I'm not "cursed" with the ability to eat whatever I want and stay thin like some poor unfortunate souls on this board.

Every year I run in the Vancouver Sun Run.  It's in April and the time frame works out really well since I start training in January and work off the Christmas pounds.  I then keep running until about November or so when the cold weather and constant rain kills my motivation (a huge problem with living in the Pacific Northwest).  By the time the run comes along I'm usually looking pretty lean and weigh around the 185 mark.  I'm 5'11 and currently 195 which isn't so hot.  If I could get down to 175 or so I'd probably look really good.  Anything below 170 and I'd probably start to look malnourished.  I have no idea what it's like to have such a skinny body.  My brother weighs like 165 and he's currently got a big gut going and is only an inch shorter than me.

I guess I just have a large frame because I've never been what anyone would describe as a fat guy but since puberty I've always weighed much more than one would ever assume from my appearance and height.

Other than that 2010 is the year I plan on entering the film I've been working on into the Vancouver Film Festival.  Not a resolution as much as just something I plan to do.  I would also like my band to do more gigs and start to gain a fanbase and such.  But that's not something I can completely control so I wouldn't consider it a resolution persay.  It's more of a "it would be nice".

You can try to hit on hawt girls using your awesome avatar/sig but i think you'll fail, miserably.

My resolutions? I didn't really have any until i read this thread. If i had to throw something out there i'd say:

1. Save more money
2. Lose some weight (lol cliche)
3. Get back into music
4. Find a new place to live

I've already been doing with #1, and i have the new job to thank for that.

#2 is going okay so far, not that i've been trying too hard. I've been eating better, and a little less, but I know i should start getting in shape and doing some more excercise. Having a desk job for two years put me really out of shape, ugh.

The one thing i really hope to accomplish is #3, because I feel like i've surpressed my creativity this past year. Musically, my taste is even more diverse and being open to so many different types of music.. i think i can create something great if i just give myself the time. I used to be a really good guitarist, now i barely play the thing.. but then again i've been expirimenting more with other instruments (like drums and keyboards) so maybe i can finally compose a full song and not some random guitar riffs/rythms.

Unfortunately, trying to accomplish #3 will mean accomplishing #4 first so i can have the space i need to stuff all my **** it. I have plenty of instruments but very little equipment, especially on the recording end. A mini studio plus a new house/apt aint cheap, so there goes #1...

Hm.. year of the tiger, eh? Color me motivated!

s brought up at least three times and talked about at length in one sitting.

So ****....it's already happened. Though I've only told the 'rums what my new years resolution is, I was talked into a city wide prank....3 times as stated and well thought it. I'm excited, it should be a good time. If I'm not arrested, I'll post pics of my success.

Scratch that...even if I'm arrested, I'll post some pics.

Well seeing as this has been bumped how is everybody doing on their resolutions?
I have 20 pounds to go to reach 160.
School is doing well. Unfortunatly I am going to have to posepone my move to Washington till next year.

So at most I can do two of my resolutions.

Thanks for the link Pro. I would of thought that Bill would have done the Spirit Tracks review but Mario done it instead.
So it looks like Pro has done his new years resolution.
Anybody else get one done?

I'm about to be on week 4 of P90X starting today.

I don't remember if I had any other resolutions, and I'm too lazy to go back and look.

Maxi, you weighed 140 lbs. before the new year started.

It is muscle weight. I think I am 140 last time I checked. I at least want to get to 160.

You haven't accomplished anything!

Anybody else get one done?

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to banning any of you chumps yet.

I vow to ban more of you chumps during the coming year.

1. Visit NWR less
2. Give out more huggles
3. Adopt the phrase "you silly goober"
1. A spectacular failure here.
2. Working on this. It's been a bit awkward, but it's going okay.
3. I don't really need to do this anymore since GoldenPhonix is still around. But I still might.
4. See sig for number 4. It isn't going as well as I hoped, either...

The weight loss hasn't really been coming along very well, but I don't think I've gained any weight, and that's close enough. The game backlog is being chipped away, and I managed to not buy any new games in January and February, but then fell off the wagon and bought 13 of them (so far) this month. The third part, meeting people, has been going pretty well. I'm going to go ahead and declare that I've had 100% success on my resolutions so far.

Get in shape for the summer to win a bet.

Return to my martial arts training.

Return to school.

Play more games...my untouched backlog is a little depressing.

A lot of family members say I've lost a lot of weight but I don't look skinnier...

I've looked for some schools in the area but there is no one that teaches the art I used to train in up here. I'm probably going to start in a new one.

I'm enrolled in a community college class that will start at the end of the month.

I think I'm playing more games...but I still have a lot of untouched ones and am only acquiring more of them.

What about your fourth resolution, Insanolord? You can't claim 100% success unless you've found a way to never sleep!

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. That's not working out too well; in fact, my insomniac abilities seem to be decreasing. I was ashamed of myself the other day for being tired after being awake for only 20 hours.

I got my AA and I am in a software development bachelors program. I'll be done June 2018 and I have been in talks about internships with the engineering department of my company.

Title: Re: NWR New Years Resolutions for 2010

Nah, my company pays for internships, and very well. Plus, since I am already an employee, but in a different department, I get to keep my vacation accrual and other benefits I already have, along with my tenure with the company (this can impact bonuses and such). I will make a lot more in engineering than what I was making in operations. The internship will really just be a limited role so I can finish school while working then I will convert into a full position there, unless I find a more promising job option elsewhere.

Also, I took that one class back in 2009/2010 but did not keep going. My job at the time did not accommodate my schedule needs for school and I was too in debt to afford to take more classes. After I got married and paid off all of my debts, I resumed school January 2014. I have been going part-to-full time ever since. So really, it will only be about 4 years of school (thankfully!).

Have you checked Tinder... or Grinder.
I don't want to presume his preference.

Get fitter.
-Already in process as a continuation from last year.

Got to Hong Kong and gain 10Kg because I ate everything. (Feb)
-Have plenty of dates there before I skip the country.

Resume my activity as Club President.
-Work the weight off.

Sign on to Tinder back home now that I am not a psychotic mess looking to kill all humans.

Get my computer repair business off the ground.
-Might look into business courses.

I'm never sure if I should make my resolution to kill less people or kill more people. Guess I'll just keep playing it by ear like every other year.
