Title: AND THE FAILURE CONTINUES
Post by: Plugabugz on October 31, 2009, 04:35:56 PM
Vudu asked me to change the sizes of some of my random avatars. Failure #1. I told him i will get onto this, mainly because i have very little time to sit down and scroll through 30-50 randomly named images to find the THREE that are the wrong size. Secondly because the owner of the webspace is travelling to London to see me today so we can go to the Eurogamer Expo in London (more on that another time) so i can't rename them and upload them when the same guy (sans laptop) is standing next to me.
Failure #2, i get a warning.
Failure #3, the link is removed and changed to the asinine "rule breaking" images (which Crimm wears as a badge of honour) so now i have to wait to get the whole thing restored because on top of not knowing which ones were the wrong size, i no longer have the link to the script to call them up!
Thanks for the assistance, folks. Really respectable.
Signed,
A highly disappointed plugabugz.

Apologies and offers to assist from the staff are expected and may now commence. This is not a request.

You had far more than three avatars that were too large, and you knew it.
I say we set something on fire.

Failure #4. Not responding nowhere near fast enough.

I don't see the problem now they're squished into separate tables, unlike notthejasonfromgainesvillethatnickandchessaknow. Like i said, i was getting the file names and had to track them down - hard to do in a pictures folder containing 2500, which i now cannot do because the script has been pulled.

I wasn't the one to issue you a warning or change your avatar, but I don't disagree with the decision. The person who warned you didn't know I had already spoken with you about it. That said, you were still breaking the rules and you knew it. A 10% warning isn't that big of a deal.

The link? Do you mean you don't know the link you were using for your avatar? I'm sorry, but if this information is logged I don't know how to find it. I'll check with Pale to see if he knows.

That's why we have the avatar thread. So you can post your avatars and then know which ones you had used.

Three, actually. Politics, the size of the avatar and the webspace... ;)

Not to mention, and I'm just stating this in the open because I feel like it, but calling out people for breaking the rules is against the rules.
Personally, I go post by post and look for rule-breakers, and the follow-up call-out for breaking the rules. I've been doing this ever since two minutes ago. It's been very fun and educational.

I have a quick question. Say I have an avatar that isn't my personal page for webhosting but someone else on the forums is hosting it for me. Am I going to be warned over that. I have 2 avatars where that is the case.

No Maxi, you aren't. As long as you have permission from the person doing the hosting it's fine.
I recognize this is hard to police, so warnings are only handed out for obvious infractions.
