Ditto. To be fair, though, that commercial is just as bad as the game it advertises. Not much to work with.

Post by: D_Average on October 24, 2009, 11:45:46 PM: Its funny b/c I fell out of gaming for awhile when that game came out, and when I saw it at a Best Buy kiosk upon release, I was like, "WTF, why would I want to run around cleaning up dirt in a Mario game? Pass." That ad would have only confirmed my quick generalization.

My friends would say, "tell me your not getting Mario Sunshine". Oh man, why oh why did Nintendo make the commercial that way?

Oh and Reggie would kill that PS3 guy no problem. I bet he could smother him with his thick manly ethnic hair! Kinda like my hair.

They did. It's called Super Mario Galaxy and it was in development for more then a year.

Actually, my problem with Mario Sunshine wasn't that it dared to do different things, but that it was an utterly boring game. In fact, some of my problems with Sunshine carried over into Galaxy: the same goddamn "start from a hub world, select a world, select a star, get a star, return to the hub, select a world, select a star" progression that was acceptable in Mario 64 only because it was the first game of its kind to try it. Throw in the complete removal of the exploration aspect of Mario 64 (where you could select one star and end up with a completely different one), the monotony of every "world" having the same tropical theme, the utterly pointless and poorly-implemented addition of Yoshi, the lame story, and the entire creation of Bowser Jr. and you have a game I just loathe. I've said before that FLUDD was not my main problem with the game, and in fact could have worked if the rest of the game wasn't so mundane.

Really? That sucks. I assumed he was in all their meetings and everything and just happened to be a decent actor.

That's different. I don't think it is fair to call it a bad game just because it didn't suit your tastes. And you seem to dislike a lot of Nintendo's games...

Actually, I dislike very few Nintendo games, but those that I do hate I really hate. What you take for "dislike" is more like indifference or impatience, Nintendo wasting their time and talent on those games below what they're capable of.

Realize this is a problem Nintendo faces with the Zelda fanbase.

It featured Mortal Kombat 2 among other games (even showing Reptile doing a Fatality, IIRC), and had the Butthole Surfers "Who Was in My Room Last Night?" as the music. It's probably the best commercial Nintendo has ever made.

I actually kind of wish I'd kept my old Nintendo VHS tapes. I had the Mario 64; Star Fox 64; and Donkey Kong 64/Jet Force Gemini tapes, and they were always good for a laugh.

Are you sure Nintendo made it? Mortal Kombat is a Midway franchise...
