"As your numbers show, with almost eight million sold life to date and a place in the Top 10 every month since it's launched, it's pretty clear that consumers love this game," says Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, of Wii Fit. "The appeal of Wii Fit is so broad and its ability to keep attracting new users every month has really played out time and time again."
Nintendo hopes to continue this success with Wii Fit Plus, which just launched in North America last week. Dunaway explains, "There's certainly an opportunity there. That being said, we think Wii Fit Plus really expands upon the marketplace. And the new enhancements that come with Wii Fit Plus are going to make it appeal to an even broader audience."
Just think about the revenue generated by about 22 million units of Wii Fit sold worldwide at $90 a pop.I'd rather not.
Do you hate successful things that you don't like? No, I like Wii Fit.
Do you hate things that become successful? That depends on what we're talking about, but I like that Nintendo has found success with their recent venues.
Are you angry Nintendo doesn't just sink all their profits into R&D?No, because they need to have a safety net in case things take a turn for the worse. But I do feel like they could spend a little more on some of their projects, so I don't want to think about all of the money they have sitting around now.
Well, you should. I think it might be the most ever generated by a single video game.
$575 million from WiiPlay
$575 million from WiiPlay
Try $111 million from WiiPlay. It's a $10 game, not a $50 game.
45 million copies of Wii Sports at 250$ each.
People always say that Wii Play is a good deal, but I myself never saw the mini-games as being worth $10. We're long past the days when Remotes were hard to find outside of the Play bundle.
Wii Play is good and easily worth the money.
According to sales data provided to IGN by the NPD Group, Wii Play and Wii Fit are two of the top three best-selling games in North America this decade. Wii Play has sold 11.1 million copies since launching in February 2007, and Wii Fit has sold 7.9 million copies since this past April. Both titles have followed Nintendo's strategy of bundling hardware along with their games. Currently in the number two position is 2004's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, with 8.25 million copies sold.
People like me bought it assuming it would be great since Nintendo made it, or at the very least have somewhat functonal controls. Oh well. Live n learn.
I still have yet to meet a human in reality who likes the game.I like it. Nice to meet you. My sister likes it too.
My sister played Wii Play like crazy until she got her hands on World of Goo.
I don't think Malstrom is very fond of Galaxy and hell, what's wrong with GTA SA? It's 95% on Metacritic compared to 97% for Galaxy.
Besides, saying that an equivalence works both ways is not circular logic. He simply defines best as pleasing the most people which translates to high sales.
