Title: Mem. card question
Post by: DevilishDude on April 20, 2003, 10:15:21 AM
I didnt know where this should be posted, so i put it here to be on the safe side.

I woke up this morning to find that the 'easter bunny' had left me a GCN memory card made by interact, im thinking of taking it back and exchanging it for an offical nintendo 251 card

should i exchange it or just stay with what i got?

I haven't used 3rd party memory cards since the N64 days, but I had nothing but bad luck with them.  They would erase my saved files, and corrupt others...  That's why I don't use them anymore.  I would advise trading it for a 1st party one if I were you.

i'd take it back for an official card. i don't think the money you save with a third party card versus an official one justifies possibly losing all of your data, which has happened to several people i know.

Which size interact is it?  I've had the interact with 1000 or so blocks for about a month and a half, and it works perfectly.  Interact cards have gotten good ratings, so if its the big one, i'd keep it.  You get 4 times the space for the same price as the 251

Personally I would trade it. Just because something works now that it will doen the road. The only way I would tell you not to is if you play alot of Sports games. Other wise a 251 is just fine.

Basically any mem card will do just fine, as long as you take care of it, and don't throw it around like a soccerball.

I have a few friends too, who have had GC mem Cards and they wiped. Mines working just fine.... although it is only a week old....

But my brother has all kinds of Mem Cards for his PS and some of them are almost 5 years old or so and they still work perfectly, mainly because he doesn't leave them lying around.

Also to make sure that you reduce the chance of losing your information, the least ammount of removing of the mem card from the camecube the better. The friction and the constant going in and out of the slot, will wear it down and make is less reliable.

I have had 1024 block card from Nyko for six months and haven't had a bit of problems with it. I would have to by 4 251 cards to save the amount of data I have. But i play a lot of sports games.

I would trust the Official Memory card out of all of them.  I've heard too many stories of deleted files and such that I just go with the official anyways.
