Title: Professor Layton movie
Post by: mac<censored> on October 06, 2009, 09:31:48 AM
Dunno if it's already been mentioned around here, but there's a Professor Layton movie coming out; it opens in a couple of weeks.

Title is "[レイトン教授と] 永遠の歌姫" ("[Professor Layton and] the Eternal Diva")

Do animated movies based on games follow the usual rules?
(same great art style as the game tho!)

What do you mean by "the usual rules?" Like, it contains many of the elements from the games but makes an attempt to create a storyline that ends by being completely unlike the original idea? I don't know. The only animated movie I've seen based on a video game was the Animal Crossing movie, and it followed the direction of AC:WW quite well, in my opinion. For example, the concepts of working for Tom Nook, moving in, other residents moving out, were all worked into the storyline in a way that felt natural.

However, I've never played Professor Layton (I plan to at some point) so I wouldn't be able to tell what are based from the game or not.

"A movie made from a video game must suck"

There is even a trope for this. Yeah. (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/VideoGameMoviesSuck)

Clock me up as seemingly interested.

I think the Japanese are decent at making movies out of games.

Showing the boobs of the female characters ensures success in Japan.

Depends. Was MGS4 popular in Japan for Naomi Hunter's clevage alone?
