Title: Is Nintendo going to have a Fall 09 press summit this year ?
Post by: AV on October 02, 2009, 06:25:45 PM
I know they did last year and that was when they showed off DSi and Punch-Out Wii. SO I am curious if Nintendo will have another megaton event this year. I want Pikmin 3 and Zelda Wii trailers !!

If they showed Zelda or announced just one new game then I would be ecstatic.

I hope so, they haven't said anything about the games announced the last time so far and a year should surely be enough to get them into a presentable state, especially since they're supposed to come out this year (in Japan at least).

I'd like to revise the expected date to be Thurs. Oct. 8th Japan Time instead.

I wouldn't get my hopes up just yet. What's scheduled for Thursday is one of Nintendo's monthly retailer briefing in Japan, which they have every month. Last month they had one and that's when they announced the release date for Sin and Punishment 2 in Japan. I'd imagine that during this one they'll announce the release date for New Super Mario Bros Wii since they haven't given that game a release date in Japan yet.
Now the previous October conferences were pretty much one of these retail briefings as well, so it's possible that we will get big megatons this year as well. Of course in the previous years they also had an event planned the same day in America in which they invited members of the gaming media to attend. This year there is no such event taking place in America which makes me wonder if what's going on in Japan might not be that big this year.
So it's important not to get too excited or else your hype train could easily crash.

In before, "Wait til E3; all will be revealed then. And by "all" we mean all of our handful of games and aborted peripherals of unannounced release dates which will be announced at a future press conference."

While a Zelda Wii trailer would pretty much make my month, I'm not giving up hope for this conference. I get the feeling the only reason last year's conference was what it was is because Nintendo screwed up so phenomenally at E3 that year and needed to perform damage control. This year, not so much.

LOL Nintendo was just declared BEST COMPANY IN THE WORLD. They probably cancelled all other press events cuz trivial things like that don't matter anymore.
I expect the next press release to be about construction of a new office building in Tokyo or something because the previous ones are already filled with MONEY; need another building to fill so more employees can swim in it.

& how they are gonna use the previous money vault to host the next Olympics that they can secure in Tokyo.... because that's how big the current money vault is, and it still wasn't big enough.

Is that the first time you've seen the Classic Controller Pro? Capcom helped re-design it, thats why it was originally bundled with MH3.

Like I said: no damage control, no need for Megatons. The allegedly rising Wii sales from the price cut certainly influenced things as well. I don't think we'll see a big Nintendo event again until either a AAA title is ready for release or Wii sales start dropping off again in Japan.

This year's annual Digital Contents Expo will be held from October 22 through October 25 in Tokyo's Odaiba area. A part of the CoFesta series of events, this event offers visitors a chance to see the latest in digital contents technology through exhibits highlighting recent research and artwork. It's split into a number of sub events, including ConTEX, Asiagraph, International 3d Fair, and Digital Contents Grand Prix.
That's all swell, but here's the real area of interest for gaming fans. Set to give the keynote to commemorate the opening of Asiagraph is none other than Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto! The creator of Mario and savior of the modern game industry and, indeed, the world, will speak about his game production work over the past 30 years.
Miyamoto's speech will be held at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (the same venue as last month's Final Fantasy XIII Premiere) on the 24th starting at 13:30.

Nintendo's Q1 FY 2010 Financial report is due on Thursday Oct. 29th.
That's the last station that this HYPE train can pull in at if it wants us all to get onboard this year.

I am rather frustrated some of those games are not here yet. Tact of Magic has been out for half a year an there is no sign of it whatsoever.
I'm thinking about sending a letter off to XSeed and asking if they could try and bring those games over since that is their niche.

Well, since it has yet to even be mentioned since then I'm assuming it is not coming out here at all. I know 6 months isn't that long compared to other waits, but you would at least expect to hear or see something about it between then and now.
