I know.  I'm just saying that I would have found the picture funnier had he had no shirt.

I was very scared though.   GNIR, I say.  GNIR!

How is that supposed to be haunted? All I see is a few rows of DVDs, with a reflective case next to it. The Ring DVD is one of those "animated" covers, so its reflection is showing a different "frame" due to the angle. Are you talking about the dude? I don't get it...

Yeah, it's just the "animated" cover to The Ring.  Any of the "animated" covers work that way, but this one was the best image...

You have to beat Freddy in his own realm and prove to him you are not afraid.
It's the only way I got him to leave me alone.

Really dude? She was like 14 in that movie.

I have no idea when "that" movie was filmed, but if they were to release "that" in a movie, my assumption would be that she was of age at the time of filming.

She's not even hot.

And I think the "TOO INTENSE FOR THEATERS" sticker is funnier anyway.

But to be honest, I wouldn't pay to see it even if she was hot.

It's the freaking Hannah Montana concert movie. She's only 16 now (or 15 even), and the movie is on DVD...I'm going to call Chris Hansen. The sticker is a joke, it came from another movie. Also, easy there killer, remember which forum this is in.

I was at Wal-Mart yesterday looking at Halloween costumes with my daughter, and they had this one called "Trailer Park Trash" or something like that. It was basically a as station attendant costume with stains, false teeth, beer can, etc. I wanted to change the name of the costume to "Typical Wal-Mart Shopper" and hang it in the clothing section.

You should have...

and as funny as that costume is, don't ya think its a lil fucked up that a costume manufacturer can push that as a product but they'd never in a million years be able to put out a costume pushing a similar stereotype influenced costume for an ethnic minority? I know this is the funhouse but still, this sorta thing pisses me off.

That made me think of an idea for a thread that could be a lot of fun but if anyone took it the least bit seriously it would be incredibly offensive. The mods would never let it happen and I'd have to agree with them, it'd have too much potential for disaster.

They probably do. It's Wal-Mart, so the costumes are basically scattered around the aisle. Also, they do have costumes for, and I say this because it's the generally accepted term, at least I think it is, "wiggers" too. I guess you could buy a ninja costume and say you're Asian, and they have sombreros too, for Mexicans. They kind of have the 4 basic food groups covered.

The more I think about it, the more I think there's something seriously wrong with me for thinking it was a good idea. The very concept would probably be offensive to half the people.

My basic idea, brought on by EasyCure's offhand mention of ethnic stereotypes, is that they have to start somewhere, so the whole point of the thread would be making up ridiculous stereotypes about various ethnic groups and races. The odds against it not being locked before it hit a second page would be astronomical.

Also, they do have costumes for, and I say this because it's the generally accepted term, at least I think it is, "wiggers" too.

I know, and the double standard pisses me off. Take that costume, or a cholo costume, but put someone of the proper stereotypical ethnicity on the cover package and you've got yourself a ton of people bitching that its offensive (as if it wasn't offensive already that a person NOT part of the proper stereotypical ethnicity was playing the part).

This reminds me of a time back in my retail days at a Hot Topic store. During this time of year we'd get an extra ton of shipment; half would be "regular" clothes, the other would be costumes and costume accesories (half the time i couldn't tell the difference). We got in some restock of these rastafarian hats and pendents with the rasta colors, but we also got in some wigs for halloween.. One of the wigs was for dread-locked hair. This lead to the store manager creating a little boutique where he thru The hat, the wig, the pendent, and a tshirt of some rapper (honestly can't remember who at the time, but it was either Snoop, Dr. Dre, Biggy Smalls or Tupac; the only ones we had at the time), in size 5XL mind you, together as a costume and pissed off one of our employees. This in turn lead to him being fired, just one of his many insensitive acts as manager. Oh, did I mention he was quoted as saying "Too bad we're not Spencer's [Gifts] or we could have a bunch of that marijuana stuff they have, like the leis and the necklaces. It'd all sell so well together"

Moron.

I only said second page because I wasn't sure of when a mod would be there; it would be locked immediately when any mod saw it.

I can't think of one right now, and I'm about to go sleep because I've been up for 30 hours, so if we're going to do this someone else should start it.

.... I'm not seeing the offense.

A Rastafarian wig, hat & pendant, while wearing a rappers shirt that is known to smoke weed mixed with a marijuana lei or bead like necklace sounds like a everyday occurance around here, and even more common on halloween.

All a Cholo costume would be is some khaki dickies cut half way down the shin with some white tube socks pulled up as high as possible. Get a white wife beater, a plaid long sleeve jacket and only button the top button. Then put on some black locs, wear a gold jesus chain and tie a bandana around your head.

You could find all that in Sears or JC Pennys year round. So I'm not really seeing the offense.

The offense (to me) is the ability to make these costumes with a white person on the cover package with very little to no protest, but have a black person pose as a rasta in costume or a hispanic as a cholo would cause those ethnic groups to protest because its stereotyping. Then the greater offense is when a WHITE person sees those same costumes and protests as well because if they didn't THEY would be labeled racist or prejudice, but when it comes to a "white trash" costume they have to keep their mouths shut.

You, and me, we know not to get worked up over silly **** like a costume based on a stereotype cuz we know they're not true (across the board*), but some people are just too uptight to see the fun and hearing them bitch and moan about something as silly as a costume makes ME bitch and moan about THEM and ruins my day cuz now I'm the uptight one. ****!

* ;)

No seriously, I've dressed up like a cholo before in front of my mexican friends. Every halloween during high shcool i'd come to school with baggy pants down to my waste, an oversized white tshirt and a bandana in my pocket... why? Because school administrators deemed "no costumes allowed" and me dressing up like 98% of the school population was a huge laugh amonst my friends. Everyone else just thought i gained some style.
