This has the potential for disaster, but it also makes making future movies a bit easier.

This is weird. Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure is now weird and completely confusing. I've no idea what'll become of it. I don't particularly care, really, but it's the first seriously difficult thing for negotiation, I'd imagine, since it's a direct competitor to Disney world.

I used to be Spider-Man at Universal Hollywood about 2 years ago so I got to hear some interesting information.
After Universal lost the license to the Super Heroes I remember my boss telling me that Disney is trying to get the characters into their own parks. I could already see it happening as Disney is getting all the marvel cartoons on their channels.
Then a friend of mine who played Shagy told me how Marvel only had one more year in Florida at their Universal. He was speaking about the characters themselves but everyone wondered what would happen to the roller coasters and rides.
I wonder if the higer ups knew anything about it?
This is all well and good as long as Marvel stays Marvel. They don't edit the old cartoons or the new ones which can be farely violent so I doubt much would change in the comics. But what about MAX punisher, war machine and such? That is some super violent super bad language stuff!

IGN has an article about the next kingdom hearts and marvel now being owned by Disney. Could you imagine? Sora and Wolverine? Goodness!

Can you imagine the next Beauty and the Beast? Beauty (the Princess) and Beast (Dr. Hank McCoy)
or Disney Presents Wolverine on Ice starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine on Ice?
The audience sits infront a giant rink that's covered with a giant cloth. Professor X(Patrick Stewart) rolls onto to the middle of the rink and touches his hand to his head. Thats when his voice is projected though the loud speaker as he begins the narration of the story.
Moments later Ice Man comes out to the very front of the rink and uses his powers to turn the rink into ice(the cloth covering the ice is slowly withdrawn as iceman skates back and forth, left and right, while progressing towards the back of the now ice exposed rink) while Prof. X continues to narrate the story.
and that's just the 1st 2 minutes.

Please for the love of all that is holy let Pixar make a Marvel inspired movie.
I was about to chime in, wait for all the PG-rated Wolverine movies where he fights nothing but bloodless robots.
Sorry, Caterkiller, I don't think you'll be doing any live acting in this one. You could probably demonstrate your Carradine technique while covered in motion-capture balls.

Please for the love of all that is holy let's not do that. Please.
Couldn't you imagine a movie that is graphically so well done that it looks like a breathing comic book? If anyone could make that art style a reality, it's Pixar.

UPDATE #1: In a conference call, the companies said that the deals for movies for characters at other studios (Spider-Man, X-Men, etc.) will stay in place under the terms set by Marvel and the other studios.
UPDATE #2: John Lasseter met with Marvel last week about a possible team-up between Marvel and Pixar and got "pretty excited, pretty fast." They say there's definitely an opportunity there.
UPDATE #3: The deal with Paramount Pictures to distribute "Iron Man 2," "Thor," "Captain America" and "The Avengers" stays in place as well, but Disney would like to self-distribute down the line. "When the time comes we'll take a closer look at it."

Pixar first hit it big with Toy Story, right? [DUNNO]
They haven't changed much. Still pumping out those same PS2-inpsired visuals.

They better not **** up the Deadpool movie. He's recently become my favorite Marvel character. (Becoming a pirate for the hell of it helped in this decision.)
Anyway, if Pixar can break away from the family friendly market they're so accustomed to, I'll trust them with Stogi's idea. Could look sweet with the recent Ultimate Universe cross over event whose name I forgot.

Those of you that might be worried that Disney will 'G' rate our Marvel, don't. Just remember that Disney has owned Miramax(since '93)/Touchstone for quite some time, and I will provide a small list of the movies that have been released under that label (like many Marvel properties are likely to be)
Miramax: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miramax) The Crow ('94) Pulp Fiction ('94) Trainspotting ('96) Kill Bill v1 & v2 ('03 & '04) No Country for Old Men ('07) There Will Be Blood ('07)
edit: Besides, we should have seen this coming.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDrs3Ii2_ZU
edit #2: from Joe Quesada (Editor in Chief of Marvel Comics)
Quote
If you're familiar with the Disney/Pixar relationship, then you'll understand why this is a new dawn for Marvel and the comics industry. -- about 3 hours ago from TweetDeck
Everybody take a deep breath, all your favorite comics remain unchanged and Tom Brevoort remains grouchy. -- about 3 hours ago from TweetDeck
Marvel will still be Marvel. In fact, they may take over all of Disneys comic ventures. Only good things can come of this merger.
Disney has the marketing & negotiating muscle and the financial backing, Pixar helps with all animated properties, Miramax releases all (currently uncontracted & future) movies & Marvel handles everything released in book format.
Disney will now be a Powerhouse of Movies, TV, Print & Family Amusement Park Entertainment. Not to mention, they probably have the largest collection of wholly owned, world renowned & potentially profitable IP's in the world now.

hmmm, this could be a good thing. Disney makes some good stuff, they make crap too. I just hope the Marvel Brand doesn't erode. Hmm, even better....the Marvel Channel. Now if only Nintendo would buy Sega.

Why are people worried about Disney? They made Pirates of the Caribbean as well which were all PG-13 which would be what most superhero movies would get anyway.

Because, GP, people forget that Disney wants to earn money, and doesn't want to ruin unique, money-making IP by shoving in morals they use in their family-oriented market and image.
Isn't it simple enough to say that in any crossover, we're going to see a decent amount of family-friendliness, but in independent works, Marvel is going to remain Marvel, because that's what attracted Disney to buy them in the first place?

You are most likely dead on, it is like EA when they bought BioWare. Nothing major has changed in the types of games they make because EA wanted them BECAUSE of their talent and special skillset.

im not worried about Disney really, i just worry about Marvel losing its name. I doubt that will happen though. Disney has seperate companies. I just thinking about how some companies just disappear under their new owners wing. This should be a good thing, Disney has the studios to make the big movies and marvel has the IPs. Which brings me back to Nintendo and Sega :P Sega has some great IPs but just doesnt know how to treat them right. Nintendo could make them right again..then again so could Microsoft :P

Disney also owns ABC and ESPN. If Islands of Adventure loses the Spider-Man ride, then I'll be extremely pissed (though they could easily turn it into something else). If the Magic Kingdom makes a new, but based on the original, Spider-Man ride, then I'll be happy. Seriously, it kicks ass.
