Title: Good bye Ted Kennedy
Post by: bustin98 on August 26, 2009, 02:19:29 AM
Do NOT talk about his career, as long and storied as it is. This is a memorial in his honor.
You will be missed, Ted.

I could say something smart alik like ThePerm did for a certain other topic, but I won't. It is tragic when anyone dies, especially so horribly! It appears the news has just broke.

I have an on-going superstition that all of these recent deaths, are the souls being collected in trade of Obama having an excellent presidency. I just want Obama to do good, and to think that all of these recent deaths are not for nothing. Deal with the devil or not, good things are coming and if we have to sacrifice a few to benefit the whole.... well then a few have got to go.

Thats too bad, he is one of the people responsible for passing the amendment that allowed people age 18 to vote. Before you had to be 21. Someone was just talking about that on Charlie Rose I believe.

Chris Matthews was just on Colbert Report to promote his Kennedy Brothers piece that he just put together. Should definitely get a lot of extra attention now when it airs on Thursday.

Sometimes I wonder if that is a good thing. ;)

lemme know when that happens, pls
Well... He did alot in his 1st 200+ days so far. Nothing has really gone wrong other than the fact that we still have to carry on with GWB's war for oil for political reasons. Stock market has turned around, banks are stable, and we got the gift of $4500 for a car you could never sell for that much, if you put it towards buying a new more gas efficient car, which has in turned helped out some of the car manufacturers. We got Health Care on the table for serious discussion again and a high likely hood that we will eventually get what we need. Guantanamo Bay is shut down and a formal investigation into the Bush Administration is underway(nothing worthwhile will come of it, but its good to get the truth out), so all things considered, I think he's off to an excellent start.
My superstition is that Kennedy is the 1st sacrifice towards getting Health Care passed, so I hope he can do more from the otherside than he was unfortunately unable to do from this side. HIs influence would have been very helpful in some sort of bi-partisan plan.

We are all adults here. can we not mention something political without actually discussing the political details.
This is a thread about a U.S. Senator after all.
I'm gonna go start a thread on Religious anti-discussion.

So.... can we talk about the recently deceased body of work? or is that outside the lines of discussion? How about his family.... and their ties to the same line of work?

How about giving our condolences and letting it stand there? Or is that too hard for some of you to grasp?
