Title: True crime: Walken
Post by: The Omen on April 18, 2003, 06:47:56 AM
Christopher Walken has been confirmed to be lending his voice to this game, as well as Gary Oldman as the Russian bad guy. How great is that? This game better live up to my expectations. I just hope it'll be a long and engrossing story line, not a cheap 5-10 hour game.

Since when does being 5-10 hours make a game cheap? Metal Gear Solid was only ~ 10 hours long and is better than 95% of the games out there. Since when does length categorically make a game good or bad?

Metal gear solid was only 5-10 hours? I thought it was alot longer than that. More like 20 hours...maybe i'm wrong.
But anyway, I didn't mean cheap, I guess bad choice of words. But i would hope its a deep story line and a lengthy quest. A game that has all this going for it had better not be 5-10 hours, which is very short for games now days.

who gives a crap how long it is.
Personally I dont want to be stuck playing a game that is 80 hours long.
Games cost around $50, average worker earns about $10 an hour, a 5 hour game seems fair to me.

It's my personal preference. It's not a comment on what every nimrod on a website wants. They shouldn't be taken as demands. As for 5 hours gameplay being fair, that's BS. Most people would have a big problem with that. 5 hours is barely any playtime. And I didn't say 80 hours. How about 15-20? I can't believe people are getting all hung up on my statement. To me , 5 hours isn't worth 50$. If you think so , good for you.

Thats a ridiculous statement. How does a persons income even come onto the equation? All the games are around the same price.

I certainly do think the length makes a difference, why else would tons of people complain about lack of gameplay length. If a game is good, but way to short, it cleary affects the general experience. Imagine WW took 4 hours to beat, would you say its just as good?
And BTW, im sure the game is long, very long, like GTA long. Beating Vice City to the fullest could take 100 hours, perhaps something similar for this game, after all, LA is being rebuild in that game.

yea to say the length of a game doesnt matter is dumb. why would anyone buy a game that only last them 5 hours. u can rent it for a 10th of the price. a 5-10hour game is cheap imo. and metal gear 2 didnt take me 10 hours personally....it was more like 20-25. but even after that there is plenty of replay value. not to mention i suck at video games and they last me 20 percent longer on average then most people. i hope this game is good.....it at least has the ability to be better then gta i htink. it probably wont be though.....it will be interesting to see what kind of reaction there is to the game.

I have a copy of an old FMV game staring Walken that is called Ripper. I got it for shits and giggles a few weeks ago. To bad I can't play it because it won't run on windowsXP.
