Title: Best Final Fantasy remake?

Well, my girlfriend's birthday coming up and I've already got her the Aqua DSi, Pokemon Platinum and Prof. Layton. Now I know she's not a huge fan of the FF series, but she's really enjoyed the last few she has played so I thought I'd get her one of the remakes to round out the birthday package. Now between the couple of remakes (i'm not sure how many) which is the best one?

Well, playable on the DSi, there's just Final Fantasy III and IV.
I've played most of III and only a teeny bit of IV, but generally, people find IV to be a more engrossing game than III, and III has some non-core RPG unfriendly parts (The final dungeon is hours long without any way to save safely, so if you die, you start all the way back at the beginning.) Given this, I'd try IV, since it's also more story-driven, anyways.

Final Fantasy IV is fantastic with great production values. Not only is it based off one of the more popular titles in the series it is well put together.

I'm sort of torn with the FF4 DS remake. While I thought it was a great remake, I just wish that they didn't bring it to 3D. I'm not a fan of the 3D that Matrix Software implemented in the game.

FFIV has a much more compelling story, and autobattle, which makes grinding super easy. They're both great, but FFIV is better, and one of my favorite games.

IV, easily. It's better in almost every respect, especially if you're not REALLY into JRPGs.

Forget FF. Get her Chrono Trigger on DS and she'll love you forever. Or The World Ends With You. Both are better than Square outputs than FF in my opinion.

Don't trust GP, she just hates to try new things. I was bold and brave and voted for something I'd never even heard of before RetroActive came along.

While all of this may or may not be true, you're the one trying to deny a girl one of the best JRPGs ever made. Get FFIV!
