Title: 8( sniff.. sad...
Post by: BwrJim! on July 23, 2009, 01:26:51 AM
Well, here we are and my son is about to start his 3rd grade in a month. My daughter 1st grade and my last son is somewhere around 1 year 20 months.

Since the economy took a dump and I have been out of job since October, it has been my responsability to get my children to school.   Before that, my wife always took them and many of the kids there new baby jack.  and one in particular was just facinated with him.  He loved jack so much. Always saying hi and asking if he can hold him and what not.  What a great kid!  Full of love and life..  today though I found out something interesting.

About 2 years ago, Raymond (the loveable kid) and his sister were crossing a very busy intersection in Colorado.   My wife saw these two kids (his sister was with him and she was four and he was six) by them selves in the middle of the intersection. She immediatly pulled over and got the kids off the street and started to ask them questions.   Their clothes were a bit tattered and they wernt wearring any shoes.  She asked them if they knew where they lived and he said yes, but he had to go to the store.  My wife wouldnt let them, called the police and waited and tried playing games with them until they arrived.

Turns out that the mom was asleep, spoke very little english and didnt realize they had left.  The police called my wife and said they got home okay.

now fast forward 2 years later.  and I meet Raymond and he was registered at my sons school and as I said, completly a nice soul when it came to people and Baby jack.   During 2nd grade, He had a siezure.. This shut his body down and he now longer had brain waves showing and what not.  Last week the hospital tried to kick them out as the parants could not afford the bills for a while now.   Very shortly, the hospital wants to "unplug him" and that will be his end.   at 8 years old.  His sister, he always watched over her and she loves my daughter too.  She carries his same spirit and I pray that this happening will not affect her in a negative way.

Perhaps Raymond touched enough peoples lives, that his time is done.  He will be missed.  and always remembered no matter what happens.

I am sorry to hear that BwrJim! I can relate to what Raymond has gone through.
What type of seizure was it? Describe what happened.

Its always great when you meet somebody like that, that has such a wonderful personality and is just a great kid. IT is also a tragedy when you hear something happens to that person.  Give Raymond my wishes  :'(

Isn't there a law that protects people like that from being forced to be unplugged? I thought only the parents could make a decision there.

Very sad...
