Dull shades of brown?  At least they're staying true to a videogame.

is that real Disney poster? Something tells me someone grabbed a screenshot taken on the set and made a shitty photoshop, i sort of expect better from Disney. Especially after pirates of the carribean.

"The Prince of Persia poster made its debut as a background prop in a 2009 Bruckheimer production, Confessions of a Shopaholic, similar to how Akiva Goldsman incorporated a poster for his undeveloped Batman vs. Superman script for a joke in I Am Legend.[19] The week of Confessions of a Shopaholic's release, Disney signed a merchandising deal with Lego for the film.[20]"

that sounds about right

the top font is like ariel or lucida sans, and then the bottom one is like impact with a trasparency, those ones in the second two posters are just goofy and terrible.

I'm sure the final poster will be better. This one scares me. I have high hopes for thismovie and I don't want them to be shattered.

Never played a PoP game to be honest (save for a cell phone demo..) but someone fill me in.. Does the character sound like Bubble Boy? If so, great casting!

My expectations are not high with this movie, but Jake Jylenhaal <sp> looks kinda out of place in this movie filled with Iranians or middle eastern people. I figure the Prince of Persia should look a little Persian. Now I don't know what Jake's genetic history is made up of, but he doesn't really look middle eastern, and definitely not like he's out in the desert sun alot.

But I'm hoping he can act the hell out of the part and make the movie, like Johnny Depp did with PotC.

p.s. Did you guys see the pic of him on set w/o a shirt? This man got ripped for the part.

BnM brings up a good point though, and it makes me wish that the part really WAS going to will smith ;D

Well, he is royalty, so perhaps  he was sheltered indoors and didn't get out much?

PotC and Jonny Depp's performance are reasons why I have high hopes for this. Jerry Bruckheimer Studios are also working on it like they did with Pirates.

The movie was delayed a good deal, but that was because they didn't want to pay the CGI artists crazy overtime to get it done on time, not due to production issues and conflict. they did that to rush out the second and third Pirates and it cost them a lot of money. This way they take their time and it costs less.

That's funny, his poster garb looks like its doing its damnedest to keep his belly from breaking free and flopping about.

I wonder if that picture was taken early on in the film before he got all ripped for the part. He does look rather bulky in the poster.

Persia is in ASIA not the middle east.

Just sayin...

There's no way there's going to be an anti-Caucasian hero with Disney.

From what I've learned Persians are what we now call Iranians, and would we not consider Iran part of the Middle East?
Title: Re: DEFY THE FUTURE
Post by: Stogi on July 21, 2009, 08:55:05 PM
Yes because it's technically in Southeast Asia. Plus, the Middle East, for the most part, speaks Arabic (expect for those french Lebanese) and they are Arab. Iran speaks Farsi and they are Persian.

Put it really doesn't matter how geographically accurate it is. If you've played the game you'd know that there are NO historically correct facts in the game. I think the game's designer just put it in "Persia" more for the games atmosphere and design than the geographical and historical landscape.

So just like the game, the movie could make a mockery of Persian ancestry, but as long as it's good, it'll make a 100 mil box office.

You need to get your geographicalities accurately straight.

Southeat Asia is the likes of 'NAM and the surrounding island nations.

It actually brings an interesting thought to mind. Remember there were people upset with how 300 made Persians (modern Iranians) look like the bad guys. And also the Disney Hercules movie upset people in Greece and caused Disney to change the movie. I'm wondering if a similar incident will happen here. Though aren't the Persians technically good guys in this movie since the Prince is Persian?

Still, I won't be surprised if someone does throw a fit.

the middle east is isn't a continent. East as far is the west goes begins in turkey and ends in japan(the far east) near east is a better term. Turkey used to be the eastern half of Greece, and before the Turkish took it over it was called Ionia. It was the home of Troy. Iran (formerly Persia) is in between Iraq and Turkey, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

Supposedly Iran and Persians are the same people, but theres a group of people in Iran called Persians, that wonder how they lost control to the Iranians. My Political Science teacher is one of them. He fits the South Park Stereotype to a t.

Arabic and Persian girls are among the most beautiful in the world. When I taught in Jordan, I had a class full of gorgeous women.

Sometimes it was hard to concentrate.....sometimes.

And don't let the stereotype fool you. In all arab countries (except Saudia), women prefer to wear Hijabs or nothing at all. The only time you see women were a full cover is usually when they are engaged or married.
