Title: Zelda Marathon Weekend Live Broadcast
Post by: Nick DiMola on July 17, 2009, 09:47:21 PM
http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/blogArt.cfm?artid=19035

Now that Chessa and I have finally settled into our new house we decided that a weekend of rest and relaxation was in order. To help us relax we've decided to kick back in our brand new game room and play non-stop Zelda all weekend long.

We have just started The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. We plan to finish this game and hopefully one or both Oracle games since we haven't ever played either of them. Finally, if we have any time left over, we'll conclude with A Link to the Past.

If you guys want to play along at home to share in the experience, grab a controller, your copy of the game and follow along. We'll be going until Sunday night!

Both of us should be in the forums to chat in Talkback so post questions if you have them!

Also, as you know, we aren't professional marathon gamers, we're just looking to have some fun. However, for the next seven days The Speed Gamers will be smashing through the entire mainline Final Fantasy series for ACT Today. Be sure to check out their live feed and, if you can, donate to the cause.

This is pretty badass. Sorry the sound and video kind of blow. I'll look into getting a better setup tomorrow, but for tonight this will do.

I love the third dungeon. For the longest time I would get stuck in there and not figure out how to go on back when it came out. One of my favorite bosses in the game.

i tried to play MASTER QUEST 00T at the start of the summer and the ugly textures just put me out of the game. It's hard for me to play that game now.  :-\

are you guys doing MASTER QUEST Version, off the n64, off the virtual console or off the GAMECUBE COLLECTORS DISK ?

Weiner to the face !  ;D LOL

The video is horrible, but I'm not certain what do to about that.  For the audio, you should get some simple Y splitter cables, split the jacks from the Wii into whatever sound system you have now and into an RCA-3.5mm mini-jack an feed that to your computer's line-in.

Also, although you're not "professional", one of the nice things is how the "pros" interact with the audience.  Give us something more than just you playing. :)

We're trying :(. The audio is so low I'm not sure you guys can even hear us.

Playing on Wii or GCN?
It's one of the GameCube versions because the icons are red and green to match the red "B" button and the green "A" button, though I don't know if it's the Collector's Edition or the Master Quest edition.
Title: Re: Zelda Marathon Weekend Live Broadcast
Post by: UncleBob on July 18, 2009, 12:15:21 AM
Is there a way of setting the live feed to not auto play whenever the page loads?  I've got the feed going in one window and posting in a second, so it doesn't interrupt the feed with each post... but then, I get two feeds going at once... :(
Nevermind, we're on a second page of posts now.

Mop it up: Collector's Disc (with Z1, 2, 5 and 6).

Well that is one way of beating it.

The way I beat that is I lock on and face it and then hit it with my boomerang. It will spin around and you have to hit it again so that that green spot is facing you .Hit that with your sword and then keep that up until it dies.

So Nick, how excited are you for The Beatles: Rock Band? I am so ridiculously excited.

Also in the past week the addiction to Rock Band has returned to my girlfriend and I. We have played every day for at least 2-3 hours. Then the other night we had a Rock Band party and has two set ups between 12 people. It was awesome.

My rig is:

Asus Rampage Extreme II, Intel i7 920 @ 4.0ghz, 4 300gb WD Velociraptors, 2 1TB Seagate Barracuda's, 32gb Intel SSD for OS, 2 Nvidia 9800GX2's in SLI, 24'' Samsung Monitor, Windows 7 64-bit RC

Thats my gaming rig. I play most games I can on PC. I run Crysis on Max @ 60+fps.

DSiWare FTW!

you remember the glitch with the master sword at the end of the game. you could only do it in the gold cart and it did so many random odd things
Actually, I had an early gray cartridge and could pull off this bug.

I'm impressed you've heard of Space Station Silicon Valley, most people haven't heard of it.

I think one reason the Nintendo 64 is remembered so fondly is because it was the first foray into the third dimension. We got to see a lot of our favourite franchises in a whole new way.

Title: Re: Zelda Marathon Weekend Live Broadcast
Post by: Mop it up on July 19, 2009, 02:10:04 AM
Those aren't necessary to beat the game so I don't think they care so much about them. Getting the ice arrows takes some time.
Title: Re: Zelda Marathon Weekend Live Broadcast
Post by: BeautifulShy on July 19, 2009, 02:20:53 AM
There is a room in Ganon's tower that you need the Fire Arrows.
You could try and solve that room without it but it could cause lots of headaches otherwise.

Well the Ice Arrows aren't needed from this point.

The second magic meter is a must though.

So is there any possibility of doing more events like this? It's pretty neat. I'd like to see us go through some new release or something in the future.

What sort of equipment do you need to pull it off well? Can a camcorder and a capture card work or do you need more gear?
Title: Re: Zelda Marathon Weekend Live Broadcast

Yes, we plan on doing this a lot in the future.

I'm probably going to get the first 2 Zelda games from Gamefly soon. I am one of the people who started Zelda gaming with Phantom Hourglass and then went to Minish Cap and Link to the Past on the GBA. Thankfully, I am catching up on old games that came out on GBA quickly now.

Good job though. I hope that people will do this more on the forums now.
