Title: NWR Gamers Shopping Cart
Post by: BlackNMild2k1 on July 05, 2009, 03:12:02 PM
Now that we've entered the last 6 months of the year, I was just wondering what, if anything, is in your virtual shopping cart of things you plan to buy.

With the assumption that a Black Wii is hitting US shores this Christmas along with NSMBW & WiiFit+, WSR coming this month, & numerous 3rd party games dropping before the year is over, what are your definite "Must Buys" list vs your  "Wait & See" list?

Off the top of my head, the games that I know I will buy before the year is over are

"Must-Buy"
- Wii Sports Resort already bought
- NSMB Wii
- WiiFit+
- Scribblenaughts
- FFCC: CB
- Red Steel 2 delayed till 2010

"Wait & See"
- DeadSpace: Extraction
- Resident Evil: Deadside Chronicles
- No More Heroes: DS
- Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

I know there are some games I'm not remembering right now, but after some others state what they are looking forward to, I'm sure I'll be able to update my list.

Hopefully we will get the Classic Controller Pro too.

I'll probably get New Super Mario Brothers around release, it will depend on how well it works as a single-player game. Another one I'm likely to get is Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games.

There isn't much coming out which interests me so I'll probably spend the rest of the year tracking down the games I missed. I still haven't gotten ExciteBots and Punch-Out!!, not to mention quite a few games from the previous couple of years.

I kind of regret spending all my money on fireworks. I need a personal shopping trainer who can prevent me from buying too much.

Most likely:
The Conduit
Wii Sports Resort (though I'm becoming uncertain there)

Potentially:
Moon
Dementium

I tend to look mostly at nearby releases, most stuff gets decided when it's relevant.

Already Preordered:
Wii Sports Resort
Japanese Black Wii Remote, Nunchuk, Classic Controller Pro

Definite Buys:
Little King's Story
Metroid Prime Trilogy
New Super Mario Bros.
Red Steel 2
DSi
3D Picross
Scribblenauts
Mario & Luigi 3
Pokemon Gold/Silver Remake
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box
Phantasy Star 0
Infinite Space

Possible/Probable
Sky Crawlers
Muramasa
Rabbids Go Home
Spyborgs
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers
Real Heroes: Firefighter
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games

That's more DS games than I thought there were. I did a quick scan of the GameStop release list, so there may be some that I'm missing. I have a serious problem.

Sports Resort and Scribblenauts for sure. Its not on Wii, but Batman is calling my name something fierce. And I still haven't picked up Tiger Woods w/M+ but I want to. Metroid Trilogy, if I can get rid of the original Cube games and the Wii one. Dead Space is looking great, along with Red Steel 2.

I don't have a real list, just a list of stuff I want...

New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Wii Sports Resort

Those are the two obvious ones.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
Maybe the Metroid Trilogy

It's worth buying, even without a DS.  It's that good.  Simply owning the game will improve the quality of your life.

Professor Layton wasn't to bad until the near ending.  Don't want to give spoilers but I wanted the ablilty to guess who the villian was but they story hops off the rader and killed any chance of that.   Still the puzzles where great though I ended up banging my head quite a few times.

My list is similar to most but I didn't see:
Arc Rise Fantasia
Tales of Graces 3
Little King Story (I think it's being released on the 21st)
Title: Re: NWR Gamers Shopping Cart
Post by: KDR_11k on July 10, 2009, 02:54:37 PM
Oh, yeah, Scribblenauts isn't too far away, right?

Prof Layton and Ace Attorney Investigations go on the list ofthey're coming out here soon too.

The 3rd B2G1 Free deal is coming up (Check the "Amazing Deals (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=3847.msg558490#msg558490)" threads) so it's time to knock a few items off the old shopping cart.

"Must-Buy"
- Wii Sports Resort already bought
- NSMB Wii - not out yet
- WiiFit+ - only $20, will buy separately
- Scribblenauts
- FFCC: CB - not out till 12/26/2009
- Red Steel 2 delayed till 2010

"Wait & See"
- DeadSpace: Extraction - maybe
- Resident Evil: Deadside Chronicles - not out yet
- No More Heroes: DS - not out yet
- Silent Hill: Shattered Memories - not out yet

The only other game I can think of is Metroid Prime Trilogy

So that makes 2 games but no 3rd game that I want that is available.
I'm looking for ideas here people.

Who else has knocked out most of their shopping cart?
Title: Re: NWR Gamers Shopping Cart
Post by: Killer_Man_Jaro on October 22, 2009, 02:08:17 PM
Ones to buy:
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii
- A Boy And His Blob
- Metroid Prime Trilogy
- Little King's Story
- Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
- Professor Layton and Pandora's Box

Ones to watch and ones to consider:
- Rabbids Go Home
- Muramasa: The Demon Blade
- Dead Space: Extraction
- Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games
- Scribblenauts

That's only the games released before the end of this year that are in my metaphorical shopping basket. This doesn't include the games scheduled for 2010, nor does it include some older games I haven't yet caught up with, nor does it include WiiWare.

I'm a poor student, though. My videogame budget has to be strict. Hopefully, I'll receive a few for Christmas.

The only Nintendo game I am picking up right away is Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles.  Everything else is on PS3 this time.  I'll eventually get NSMBWii and probably Wii Sports Resort. Maybe Dead Space Extraction when the price goes below $30.

Wii Sports Resort, Resident Evil;Darkside Chronicles, Muramasa;FFCC:The Crystal Bearers.MPT and New Super Mario Bros Wii.

I may jump at that 2 Motion Plus Wii Sports Resort package.

Well, with all of the B2G1 Free promos going on, I ended up spending a pretty big chunk of change on games so far.

Wii
DDR Hottest Party 3
Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga
Rune Factory Frontier
Resident Evil 4
Mario & Sonic at the Winter Games (Christmas gift for my little sister)
Muramasa
Metroid Prime Trilogy

DS
Avalon Code

With this splurge I think I am only going to be able to get a few more games this year without breaking the bank. I have one $40 credit on Amazon to help though.

So for the rest of the year the lineup of probable choices are:

NSMB Wii
Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles
Cursed Mountain
Guitar Hero 5
Rabbids Go Home
Silent Hill Shattered Memories
Boy and His Blob
FFCC:Crystal Bearers

I'll probably only be able to get three of those, maybe four with the Amazon credit, but it all depends on how much money I can make between now and then.

But if you have your doubts, it might be best to either pick it up when it's cheaper or wait for an improved sequel.

Well then, I guess I better post my current list. This will be forward looking since... it's late at night and I'm feeling lazy. Of course, shifting release dates affect the outcome of items on the following list.

Strong Intention to buy/Have pre-ordered:

Wii Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers
Wii Sky Crawlers
Wii No More Heroes 2
Wii Red Steel 2
Wii Monster Hunter 3
DS Dementium 2
DS Ace Attorney: Miles Edgeworth Edition(&P)

Considering Buying/Waiting for more info:

Wii Secret Files Tunguska
Wii Another Code Wii
Wii Forever Blue 2
Wii Arc Rise Fantasia
Wii Sam & Max Season 2
Wii Sin & Punishment 2
Wii Metroid: Trilogy
Wii Rabbids Go Home
Wii Fatal Frame 4 (import)
DS Moon
DS Nancy Drew: Clue Bender's Society

There are many other games which could be on this list, such as Fragile, or the new Prince of Persia game, but I'm waiting for more information before they arrive on my radar.

UPDATE: updated list posted below

We really could use an Upcoming Releases Thread around here, but since we don't have one, and this thread is about what games you plan on buying, I'll just post this here since we don't know what all of them are or if they are leaving Japan.

I hadn't even heard of some of those games! They had better bring all of them to the West.

Don't worry, they'll all be released right after Captain Rainbow and Tact of Magic.

Xenosaga is that Monado game most likely since it's made by the Xenosaga guys that Nintendo bought.

Hoshi No Kirby.... Not sure, but it could be that 4 player Kirby game.

No idea what The Last Story or Kensakusu is.

Ah, Monando = that Xeno game? Ok.

I thought Monolith were the 'Xenogrars' guys and that they also made Disaster and Soma Bringer? (2 games that have yet to come to the West as well...not a pleasing trend)

2009 Backlog:
Wii
Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles

One great thing about rail shooters is that they don't sit on the backlog very long for me. They're so pick-up-and-play, and so easy to just grab my younger brother one weekend and blast through the game in an all-nighter.

So apparently Sam & Max 2 IS coming out after all for the Wii!

Back on my list baby!

Amazon sayssss... March 9.

Man, I ALSO need to go back and finish up the original. It froze up on my brother and I last time we tried to play it.

I tried to play the game without ever using a hint guide and I'm stuck on the first episode...maybe I need to curb my pride and check. The problem is I tend to more easily turn to the guide after I checked it once and spoil the challenge of half the game.

2009 Backlog:

Cursed Mountain
Guitar Hero 5
Rabbids Go Home
Silent Hill Shattered Memories
Boy and His Blob

Wii
No More Heroes 2

Red Steel 2
Sky Crawlers
Fragile
Monster Hunter Tri
Sam & Max Season 2

I went and bought Cursed Mountain since the studio got shut down in case the game starts disappearing and decided to throw in Madworld as well since it was only $20 too on Amazon.

Here's my own list for more recent releases. There are still quite a few from 2008 and farther back, but I won't list those since I probably couldn't get them new from a store by now.

To-buy list:
A Boy and His Blob
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games
Punch-Out!!
Rabbids Go Home
Wii Sports Resort

Curious/will research:
Cursed Mountain
Dead Space Extraction
Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers
No More Heroes 2
Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles
Silent Hill Shattered Memories
SpyBorgs
Sky Crawlers
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom

There might be some more I'm forgetting...

I just realized that I list almost none of the big Nintendo games this year. Partly that's because as a Nintendo fanboy, I'm not as curious because I already KNOW they'll be good, and they'll be around for awhile. ALSO, it's because as a Nintendo fanboy, I expect delays aplenty.

Yeah, it's the reason I have yet to grab games like Punch-Out because I know I can grab it later, especially when (and if) it goes down in price.

It won't receive an official price drop, but I'll bet you could find it as a retailer special if you keep your eyes peeled. Amazon tends to sometimes have sales on some of Nintendo's games for between $20-$30.

That's what I tend to look for, the Amazon deals. Though if I'm not careful I'll spend way too much catching and buying all of their random deals. Especially when I always have to buy more stuff to meet the free shipping standard.

Day 1
Mario Galaxy 2 - bought
Metroid: Other M - bought
Dragon Quest IX (DS) -bought

Maybe Someday
Red Steel 2 - pass
Capcom vs Tatsunoko - got SSF IV 3D, that's enough Capcom fighter for me
Sin & Punishment 2 - bought
Epic Mickey - pass
Cave Story (WiiWare or some format)
Mega Man 10 (WiiWare)
Beatles RockBand DLC (already own the game) - bought all of the Abbey Road album and one other track, may buy more some day.

I also got Nambo Jambo (NBA Jam) & Donkey Kong Country Returns on day 1. SSF IV 3d I got, when I impulsively bought a 3DS 3 days after launch... almost day 1.

And I've also picked up Chrono Trigger DS, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, and Dragon Quest Swords for cheap. Plus, even though, I don't own a 360, I got Resident Evil 5, to play with a friend who has a 360.

Day 1 Upcoming Purchases
Diablo III (PC, hopefully 2011)
Pikmin 3 (?)
Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D (3DS)
Resident Evil: Revolutionaries (3DS, 2012)
Dragon Quest X (Wii, right?, 20??)
Super Mario platformer (3DS, 20??)
Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS)

Maybe
Xenoblade (Wii)
Last Story (Wii)
Pandora's Tower (Wii)
Mario Kart (3DS)
Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)
