EDIT~ I guess that the boy variant is more divergent into Kodona/Dandy style. (http://community.livejournal.com/egl/2300955.html) I didn't know that. I just refered to it as Japanese or Gothic Lolita. This page shows some examples of it.
As I understood it, it's kind of a Neo-Victorian clothing style with goth/punk overtones.

Its on HBO right now.
I'm not sure how you can catch up on the first season quickly, but they are only 3 episodes into the new season, and are taking a few weeks break before the next episode. So that gives you atleast 2 weeks to catch up. Better get started.

Dexter is on showtime and yes it is an amazing show as well.
While you are at it watching True Blood watch Carnivale, a show that was canceled several years back on HBO.

Yes you are right, I forgot I have HBO & Showtime now & get them confused sometimes.
Dexter, Weeds & True Blood are the 3 shows that lead me to having HBO & SHO that and the on demand movies & specials
I've been meaning to check out Carnivale, heard good things about it several years ago. I'm gonna check and see if Netflix has it on Watch It Now
One show that I've been afraid to check out though is Oz on HBO. Heard it was really good, but contained lots of prison rape and other things that make me even more paranoid of ever finding myself in a situation that leads to me going to jail.

I kinda sorta liked True Blood back in the first season. It started off well enough and definitely got my interest when people started tripping on vampire blood. But I hated the finale. That **** sucked.
As for the new season, I fucking hate it. The only part that peaked my interest was when Suke gets naked, has sex, and drinks her own blood. I found that **** disturbingly hot for some reason.
Other than that, this show seems to go nowhere. There's no overarching story; it's just one random scene after another. Furthermore, they add like 5 new characters each episode, and even though they kill off a lot of people, there seems to be too much WTF is going on and not enough answers to WTF is going on. It's like Lost but far worse.
And after seeing 10 minutes of that episode where a bull thing attacks Suke, I swore to never watch this horrible horrible show again. Next thing you know there's going to be a hawk-like bear creature humping the **** out of her. It's stupid, too stupid for even me.
Dexter's the **** though. Can't wait for the 4th season.

True Blood is based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries, while I haven't read any of the books fully yet, I have been reading the first (the books are very much PG to PG-13) and while there are some changes here and there, they remain quite close to the original source. It appears each season is going to be based on a book with their own tweaks here and there. In the books the story is told from Sookie's point of view.
Oh yeah the Twilight books came out about 4 years AFTER the first book in The Southern Vampire Mysteries. So if anyone says it s a rip off of twilight doesn't know what they are talking about.

Dexter is the ****. I can't tell you how many people I have made sit down and watch Dexter. It will be interesting to see which path they take for next season. Dexters protective bubble is gonna be smaller than ever and the people he trust the most might be the ones he really needs to watch out for & possibly have to eliminate next to save himself.
As far as sounding like Tom, I knew what I typed had sounded familiar, lol, but its not the show or the going to jail that gets to me. I hear the rape scenes are quite graphic and I really don't want to watch that.
