Title: Nyko Play Cube (playing PS2 controller on GameCube)!
Post by: Johnny on April 15, 2003, 06:29:04 PM
First of all my name is Johnny, and I liked to introduce something perfect for a GameCube fan. It is called " The Play Cube". It is a little device that convert Ps1 and Ps2 controllers, allowing you to play on the GameCube. This is like a dream come true for gamers who hates the GameCube's controller, or have 2 system and want to use PS2 controllers on the GameCube. At this tiny price you can't go wrong with $9.99, license by the 3rd party Nyko. Make no mistake about it, even though at a cheap price and a 3rd party brand, it will save you money and it will last you a pretty long time. Visit Kbtoys for the information and check out GameCube section and accessories! thanks!

Do they have a WaveBird version?  No?  I didn't think so.

I bought two a long while back for some 4-player SSB. It was cheaper then paying (then) $35 each for two controllers that would rarely be used.

Being said, some of my PS2 lovin' friends actually preferred the PS2 controller to the GC for SSB. Fools!

The button mapping is a little questionable, though.

I think I saw the same thing the other day at Best Buy. I love the GC controller a LOT more than the PS2, but it's really designed for action/adventure. For arcade or fighting games, I've had to struggle with the button placement. I'm hoping an official arcade stick for the GC might surface in the states in time for SC2 (I'm not big into importing or that concern to spend 100+ dollars for an acceptable controller). If that doesn't happen, I'll pick up one of these and a PS2 arcade stick.

Heed My Warnings!!!
back in the day, my brother and i also thought this would be a viable option, as it was cheaper than buying more GC controllers.  But to our dismay, it did not work with some of our games.  Mainly the Bond game that we really wanted it for!!  so, it may be a cheap alternative, but may not always be compatible.

Hey I am back. In my opinion you guys are making a big deal out of these stuff and no I not a Car salesman. I love both controller, either GC or PS2. The thing is that GC controller was made akward, I mean look at the D+pad it is so small and low, Thats why The Ps2 has a better advantage for playing sport and fighting games. Yes, and that is true the GC controller feels better, but look at it the buttons are akward and out of order. PS2 is design perfect, the button are well place as up,down, left, and right. So check out the Play Cube adapter, it lasted me for like 8 months already. And here's your  chance to play different gaming controller on a different from a different console!

johnny its just a matter of opinion. personally i think the gamecube controller is hella better than the ps2 controller. i have nothing against the ps2 but the controller is just so clumsy. my logitech wingman pad has basically the same layout as the ps2 controller but it is bigger so it fits your hands perfectly. it is probably the best controller i've ever used.

anyway enough about that, my point is everyone has their own opinions and are entitled to them
