Today, Atlus announced that they have secured the North American rights to publish Shiren The Wanderer for Wii.

In Shiren the Wanderer, you play as Shiren, a vagabond who travels with his companion Koppa, a talking ferret. Players navigate through randomly-generated dungeons and areas. The game features intense boss battles, item customization, and a cast of interesting characters.

Developed by Chunsoft and released in Japan last year with Sega as publisher, Shiren the Wanderer is an entry in the Mystery Dungeon series of games by Chunsoft. The Mystery Dungeon games fall into a genre known as "roguelikes," often marked by challenging gameplay and random dungeons. Some recent examples of the genre are the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, which Chunsoft developed for Nintendo.

Shiren the Wanderer is set to be released sometime in Spring 2010.

I've heard of this series because there were two for the Nintendo 64 which were never released in North America. If they came to the VC that would be pretty cool...

I was curious until I read Mystery Dungeon. My sister might like it though.

Jeremy Parish loves the DS version.  I've been meaning to give it a try but just haven't found the time.
