Today during the Ubisoft Press Conference the company revealed its new fitness game, Your Shape, as well as its new motion sensing camera.

Through use of the camera in conjunction with Your Shape, players' shapes will be recorded and a profile will be created specific to that player.

During workouts the game will give players real time, on-screen and vocal feedback in order to get the perfect workout. Players will also be able to choose any part of their body they would like to work out and then choose the type of regimen they need to work on toning, weight-loss, and other goals.

Your Shape, along with the motion sensing camera, will be available this fall for Wii.

I find it oh so interesting that Microsoft was trying to wow everyone with a motion camera, and yet Ubisoft has been working on one with Nintendo. Could Ubisoft's and Nintendo's camera be a Nintendo E3 reveal??

is it really equal in quality ??

I sort of got the impression the tech in the ubisoft game is primitive and just gets your shape, instead of stupid bmi

Do we even know how much Nintendo has been involved with this camera? I guess we'll know for sure come tomorrow's conference. I do suspect, though, that this is the mystery product that Nintendo told stores to reserve space for this holiday season.

Wasn't one of the old N64DD Mario Studio titles going to do something similar? Maybe that will be the upcoming Mario game? I'm really hitting wild ones, aren't I?

I don't know, if this is coming from a third-party like Ubisoft, and specifically for an exercise game, I wonder if it's been developed only with this particular use in mind and thus be limited for other items.

... though it would be awesome if Nintendo "adopted" a third-party accessory...hmm

Or Nintendo is developing the camera internally and Ubisoft was the first 3rd party to make a game for it.
Hence them working closely with Nintendo on it.

What if WiiFit+ also uses this camera, or Nintendogs Wii where you virtually pet your dog, or some other ridiculous idea.

Wouldn't be the first time. The Power Pad was created by a third-party for a series of games called Family Fun Exercise. Nintendo liked it and bought the rights to it and re-named it Power Pad.
