Title: Nine Inch Nails and the brothers
Post by: bustin98 on June 01, 2009, 12:06:50 PM
Last night I saw Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction in Detroit. What I saw:
A sea of 30 and 40 something white, balding, greying manchildren, with their wives/girlfriends. Just watching the show trying not to spill their beer. Where the **** did the mosh pit go? Next time keep the women home or tell them to wear their combat boots damnit.
What I didn't see:
Black men. None, zero, ziltch. What do black men have against Nine Inch Nails? Especially with all the EXPLETIVE going around! Oh, there were black women there, shaking their thang. And plenty of latinos too.
Its a conspiracy, shhhh!

The last time I saw NIN was in October out in LA. I saw black people. Also, the mosh pit was pretty rocking.
Also, oddly enough, the most insane mosh pit I've ever been a part of was during the Fragility Tour (in 2000). The pit collapsed on itself halfway through March of the Pigs and a good chunk of the audience spent the next two songs tripping over each other until we all finally managed to get back up.

they are a 90s band, music tends to be segragated, im betting younger black dudes listen to a wider range of stuff, and im betting if they are in their 40s and 50s they listen to a more wide range of stuff, im betting the 27-38 age group wouldn't listen to nine inch nails on average. I'm from Yuma, AZ and most of my friends are Mexican. My best buddy only listens to hip hop on average, his sister really liked hard metal so he likes some of that, because he grew up in the 80s he'll enjoy a power ballad. My music tastes are a little different, so if I pop on anything he doesnt like he's like WTF. My other buddy, has pretty much the same eclectic taste i have. My other buddy listens to only country and rap and doesn't like even techno. He even once told me he thinks all rocks sounds the same....

I dislike anyone that completely turns themself off to certain types of music. I used to be like that but i matured.
Sure there are some genres i dislike more than others but if you keep an open mind, you'll always be able to find at least SOMETHING in a genre you never thought you'd like. For me that was Country/Folk music but man do i enjoy listening to some Cash now.

I would LOVE to see NIN. Downward Spiral is in my top five albums of the 90's. In fact, just a few minutes ago, I was singing my own lounge version of Mr. Self Destruct.

This was my third time seeing them. Its been 15 years since the last time though. It was better 15 years ago. When he played Hurt, a screen would come down with video of rotting carcases. Also, he would play for more than an hour, the pussy.

Not into NIN. I do like Jane's Addiction. And even though I have one of their albums, I'm not going to break any appointments to see them.
Now RAGE I'd kill to see.
So it's not like all black men hate that type of music. We just don't see the need to see them in concert. Unlike Phish, which I'm seeing twice this summer.
