Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, originally for the GameCube, will be enhanced with precise Wii Remote controls, a widescreen presentation, and other enhancements like they were in the Japanese Wii de Asobu Metroid Prime versions.
Since all three games will be on a singe disc, players will be able to access any of the three games through a unified main menu. There will also be an unlockable system where players will be able to unlock music and artwork by completing specific in-game objectives across all three games.

Metroid Prime Trilogy is being developed by Retro Studios, who developed all three Metroid Prime games for the GameCube and Wii. The trilogy will be available on August 24 with a price point of $49.99.
THREE INCREDIBLE GAMES JUST GOT MORE AWESOME: METROID PRIME TRILOGY HEADS TO WII
All Three Critically Acclaimed Games Now Feature Motion Controls with Enhanced Presentation and In-Game Rewards
REDMOND, Wash., May 22, 2009 - Metroid Prime 3: Corruption set a new standard for first-person motion controls in video games. Now it's bringing those controls to the rest of the celebrated series, allowing players to experience the entire Metroid Prime story arc with the peerless precision of the Wii Remote. Nintendo announces Metroid Prime Trilogy, a new premium three-game collection for the Wii console that bundles all three landmark Metroid Prime games onto one disc and revamps the first two installments with intuitive motion controls, wide-screen presentation and other enhancements. Metroid Prime Trilogy will be available exclusively for Wii on Aug. 24 at a suggested retail price of $49.99.
Each game maintains its original storyline and settings, but now Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes let players use their Wii Remote to aim with precision as heroine Samus Aran. Based on the breakthrough control system that debuted in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, these new Wii controls bring an entirely new level of immersion and freedom to these milestone games.
"Metroid Prime Trilogy puts the best first-person adventures all in one place, with a host of new additions that make these three timeless titles more engaging than ever," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "A great deal of care and detail has gone into Metroid Prime Trilogy, providing longtime fans with new ways to experience the games they love."
All three games now reside on a single disc. Players can access the game they want from a unified main menu that ties together all three adventures. Through a new unlockables system, players can gain access to in-game rewards such as music and artwork by accomplishing objectives across all three games.
Metroid Prime Trilogy was developed by Retro Studios and Nintendo, the same developers that created the original games for the Nintendo GameCube and Wii systems.

ok...so to buy the Wiimakes of Metroid Primes 1 and 2 (which I want), I have to also buy another copy of a game I already own (Metroid Prime 3). Really, there was no other way? Well, I guess that's trade-in credit towards Ghostbusters then. If it wasn't for the price this would bother me a lot more than it does. They would have sold MP1 and MP2 for $30 each anyway.

I still think that Nintendo will release NPC! MP and MP2 individually but who knows. Even if you want to buy MP1 and MP2 for Wii that's 60 dollars, the triology is 10 dollars less.
This rocks. It would be very cool if Nintendo offered 15 dollars off for people who trade in their copy of Metroid Prime 3.
Though while including all three games is ideal for newcomers it kind of sucks for anyone that already has the third game.
From what I read the multiplayer mode in MP2 is a lot better with the Wiimote aim instead of the GC controls.
The problem with that logic is that it's not like it would be any cheaper if it were just 1 and 2, they're just throwing 3 in as a bonus.

People should be infuriated, I mean why would you want to pay $50 for 3 games (one that is pretty new) instead of $60 for two games? I am so MAD.

Just to play Devil's Advocate, what about those people who want to pay $30 for 1 game (Metroid Prime), because they don't like Prime 2 and already have 3?

True, then again this appears to the common practice now (Capcom is king of it). I'd have no problem if they sold the two separately.
it would be nice if they added online to the multiplayer in Prime 2. It was kind of fun, but limited
I'd rather they spent their time putting fun into the game

Well, at least he'll be consistent in the quality of games he likes.
As I said in the other thread, I am happy about this. I already planned to get NPC! Metroid Prime and was thinking about NPC! Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. I might trade in my copy of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, I am just wondering if my save file will work on the Metroid Prime Trilogy version of the game.
Better backtrack on that, BnM.

Wii games can access every GC/Wii function; GC games are stuck in pretend-GC mode.
Tales of Symphonia 2 is able to read GC save files from the first game for unlockable bonuses.
Who cares if it can read your GC save files? The point is to play through the games again. I think the hard modes are already unlocked in 1/2 on Wii.
I'd say reading the Metroid Prime 3 save should be an expected feature and if Retro doesn't offer it you have a right to complain. It's the same game on the same system. You should be able to import your save. But with the other two? With the changes they had to make importing your save might not be so easy. I would consider it unrealistic to expect that feature.
Considering the original Metroid Prime is about $5 in most stores, the trade-in value would be like $1 max.

This reminds me, I've got some friend credits from Corruption I've been sitting on for the longest time, if memory serves. If anyone wants to trade some before rushing off to GS, Ebay, Amazon, your friend etc, PM me. [/slightly off topic]

I have a ton of friend credits and need some myself. PM me your info if you want (I will reply tomorrow since I am about to log off for tonight).
Epic win, Nintendo. I have been saying this since the Wiimakes were announced, glad to see that they are listening to their fans.

Now don't get crazy, Nick. Don't confuse the one time that Nintendo actually does something that makes sense with them listening to their fans. It'll take a lot more than this to make me think they actually listen to what we want.
This is insta-buy territory for me. Hopefully Amazon will have a $39.99 deal on it like they did with Punch-Out!!, since I have all three games already and don't want to pay full price for the trilogy. However, I'm going to keep all three original games - the collector in me wouldn't have it any other way.
