Title: Does anyone use Twitter at all?

I decided to hop on to claim my name now in case I saw a need in the future only to discover Stratos was already taken. So I picked another name.
I'm just wondering who on the boards uses it and what for? Do most of you like it or find it silly and unnecessary? Do you guys think it would be beneficial to the site for the staffers to have one, especially for quick updates at trade shows?

I think Flames of Chaos,Pale,Yoshidious,Megabite have a twitter account. I don't have one.

I use it to listen to news stuff. Video game deals and such. I used to sweet, but I just couldn't stay with it, or care.

I don't use it, but just to be safe I created an account just now so that nobody else takes my username and impersonates me.

That's sound advice. There are Mop_it_up impostors on sites like MySpace, FaceBook, YouTube, etc. so now I try to jump on anything which might become popular in the future.

No it's useful. You can follow TVs shows, and while the TV show is on, you can tweet the show and they'll read your comments. I use it with cheapassgamer and they tweet me new deals. Very nice for that.

I have a twitter that I drop goofy messages into and follow high-profile nerds with. Not sure how I want to use it yet, but I imagine it'll be handy to clue people in when I'm traveling/doing something away from the internet

That's really weird. Why is that word not "tweeter" instead? Looks like a tweeter is an electronic speaker designed to produce high-frequency sound, according to Wiktionary.
Why can't the English language be more consistent?

I absolutely love the English language and all of its eccentricities. If being an English major involved studying the mechanics and vocabulary as opposed to reading a bunch of stuff I'd hate I'd know what my major was going to be in the fall.

I knew somebody was going to use that word. I thought about saying "at least it isn't called Twatter" just to get that out of the way.
Ho, ho, ho, hoooo...I always thought the word was a goofy word...like calling someone a cur or a dolt. Anyway, I don't use Twitter, and probably won't ever use it. I regret even getting a Facebook account. I will stick to my archaic Myspace and Livejournal pages to let my friends know when I am on the toilet.

Twitter seems so stupid to me, most social networking sites do. I have a MySpace page, but it's the generic looking one and I have rarely ever used it. I have a Facebook page but only because Activision had a contest in 2006 where you could win a Wii if you joined their official friends list.

my twitter is @feetlips i use it to post outfits i wear, vent passively when i have no one to talk to, post links to stuff i want to share/remember, keep in touch with innernette friends... feel free to follow me!
