Title: Seriously, MGS4? A 10 from IGN and Gamespot?

I admit I've only played the game for 10 minutes - but there is absolutely no possible way this game gets a 10. The first thing I noticed is the graphics - honestly, a fucking 10? If this was a 360 game it would be a 7 at best. This game came out 6 months after COD4, and they say it looks just as good, if not better. It looks like MGS2 with improved character models and smoke...and that's about it. Call of Duty 2 had better graphics. Second thing - control, sure it can be tweaked in 50 thousand ways, but it's stiff as Hell. I think reviewers didn't realize that they were reviewing a bunch of cut scenes, which is where they get their "incredible camera angles" and "breathtaking audio/visual experience" from. I'm not going to finish playing it, I realize I could be missing out on a truly great game, but I took my friend's PS3 from his house to **** around with (no, not sexually...OK, maybe sexually), and so far with Resistance (1) and MGS4, I'm incredibly disappointed. I just felt like posting this. Meh. Hopefully Killzone 2 is good.

Really? I think MGS4 is one of the most polished games I've ever seen.

IGN gave GTA 4 a 10 as well and most people agree that was overrated too.

GameSpot? When were they ever credible? They game Chrono Cross a 10 for crying in the mop water.
I think whether or not a game deserves a 10 depends on what you consider a 10 to be. Does it mean the game is perfect, or does it mean that, given the circumstances, the game could not have been better? However, I've not played Metal Gear Solid 4 or Grand Theft Auto 4, so I can't vouch for them.
There are only two games I've played which I feel deserve a 10: Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Big surprise there, huh?

I haven't played it for too long, but surely it could have been better. It's top notch story-wise, but the controls could have been better, the camera could have been a lot better, and the graphics are not nearly as good as they say in the reviews, not even close.

The fan is a mindless fanboy's wet dream. Everyone else who has a mind can see the faults.
What I think is cool about the graphics is that I haven't seen any texture tearing or major clipping. And the frame rate stays consistent, though not much happens on screen so thats not a biggy. Textures seem to be pretty clear too. The art direction is very sterile. Everything seems to be too clean and clear.
The gameplay is just as I remember any other Metal Gear game. Assholes who complain about Zelda never changing should also be compaining about this series too.

I agree unlike the genre Zelda helped create, it hasn't quite surpassed it, but in MGS's genre there are far better stealth games out there with far better AI and control. MGSIV is a movie with some gameplay attached it it, and while it has its moment it feels quite archaic in design.

I thought MGS4 was absolute trash. The storyline completely ruined the characters, there was more cutscenes then gameplay and Sunny, the only good new character from that game, hardly got any development.
And that awful awful wedding. VERY AWFUL And Dr. Madnar saving Raiden (NO HE DIDN'T).
It's obvious Kojima didn't care, not that I blame him.

1080p. The graphics are clear, and the framerate is nice, but the textures are bland, overused, and have the "drawn-on lighting" that makes just about every object (crate, table, kitchen sink) look incredibly fake.
