For fans of the original WiiWare game, Pop+ Solo retains the elements inflating a bubbles, causing chain reactions when they burst, and a badge system similar to the Xbox 360's achievement system or Playstation 3's trophy system. A couple of modes from the original have also been retained, such as the race to 9,999,999 points that is Advanced mode, the Normal mode where players Pop bubbles not just for points but also extra time, and also the Chill mode where players can freely pop bubbles without restrictions.
The Training mode in Pop+ Solo has been revamped so it allows players to practice at their own pace. The new Adventure mode introduces obstacles such as water jets, sea mines, and boss battles. For example, a giant squid boss would leave oil blobs on the screen Mario Kart DS style, or a starfish boss might grip onto the player's view with all five arms and not just impede progress, but seek to "crack the screen."
The Bonus Rounds mini game mode has actually been inspired by fan feedback. NNOOO plans to include five different mini-games in this mode. Machine Gun is a mode where players rapidly tap the screen to pop as many bubbles within the time limit, and Defend has players preventing bubbles from reaching a boundary line on one side of the touch screen. The Detonate mini-game focuses on creating chaining combos with color specific bubbles, and Focus is a situation where players have to pop specific colors of bubbles, and if the wrong one is popped then it will be game over. Finally, NNOOO is working on a mini-game called Sequence, which is based on players matching symbols that are flashed on the screen.
Pop+ Solo will have a price point of 500 DSi Points. While the game has no official release date, Creative director Nic Watt revealed to IGN that they plan on releasing Pop+ Solo, and a hinted Pop+ Versus, later this year.
